In 2020, Josh. started his career with “Acoustic Ballads for Loners and Suchlike” – a small miniature release about a hopeless romantic backed up purely by himself and a acoustic classical guitar. This had the comedic single “London Beaches” – fusing folk, rap and bedroom pop for a quick laugh and jab at UK seaside’s.

“Acoustic Ballads for Loners and Suchlike” is exactly what the title says it is; a collection of love ballads that Josh. recorded all put into one album for “Loners and suchlike”. The first half of this album is purely covers of varying classics and more obscure love ballads. The second half (London Beaches onwards) was all written by himself about his personal relationships.

“London Beaches” is a dumb song I wrote one summer that ended up being my first ever single. Fusing folk, rap and bedroom pop; it's a quick laugh and jab at the UK’s seaside’s. From "Acoustic Ballads for Loners and Suchlike"

This was one of those “3AM funny thoughts” kinda things were I sat there on holiday thinking how it’d be funny to have a “diss track” on the UK beaches without ever being on one and not knowing that London has no beaches. I quickly wrote down the first two verses and thought nothing of it for two years. Return back to 2020, I refound the notepad with lyrics and thought “hey I could probably make this” and so I did. It’s ironically a very British song, with the classic references to Brexit and fish and chips. I shoved in Doncaster there because it was a funny place that I always remembered from a Soothouse video. I do really mean that entire last part though – please just travel to Europe, it’ll be worthwhile.
