Translations Radio 09 - Electric Zoo Afterparty w/ Artbat, Testpilot (Recorded 09/04/2021)

Folks that was incredible. Our first 4-hour set, and y'all kept the energy going! At the end of our set we recognized a bunch of y'all who'd been standing in the exact same place for the entire show. Can't tell you how much that means to us!

It doesn't get much better for us than starting at 4pm and going through the sunset. We were able to ride the natural arc of daylight fading into nighttime, a journey that we think perfectly captured the essence of a Local Dialect set and allowed us to explore the full breadth of our sound. Listening back to the set and reliving that night... wow, there were so many moments!

Saranyu straddles the line between a club track and an emotional journey - the Local Dialect sweet spot. Named after the Hindu goddess of clouds, the so-called "swift-speeding storm cloud," we wrote it a few years ago and immediately knew it was something special. While you may have heard it in Lane 8's Spring 2020 mixtape, this is the first time it's getting an official release. We hope you like it as much as we do, and as always thank you so much for continuing to support us throughout the years!

Saturday night was incredible!! We had such a blast. Got to play a bunch of new Local Dialect tracks, some unreleased stuff, and a bunch of new and old favorites to a packed house. Y'all did an incredible job keeping the energy high all the way until the very end. We felt like we could've played until sunrise.

It feels surreal to be sharing the stage with our musical heroes - we were playing "Those Days" and "How Can She" by Amtrac 10 years ago in our college dorm room parties... would never have thought that we'd be opening for him a decade later!

What an insane weekend!! We started off strong on Saturday night with the @realmrecs family and went directly into an afternoon set with @boris-brejcha yesterday - the energy both nights was absolutely spectacular! You all threw down super hard and some of you even showed up for both of our sets! So much love to you all!

Translations Radio 12 - BK Mirage w/ Boris Brejcha, Ann Clue, Moritz Hofbauer (Recorded 2022/05/21)

Our latest offering "Contemplation" is a meditative and reflective piece that's a bit different from what you've heard from us before - it still features the classic Local Dialect analog sounds and soaring melodies, but the track as a whole is more chilled-out and spacey. The breakdown samples a sermon from the famous Thai monk Buddhadasa about the trap of "diṭṭhi," or "views." Diṭṭhi refers to our preconceived notions and mental conditioning that we latch onto which informs our worldview and our attitude towards life. Hanging on too tightly to these notions can lead to conflict, and can lead us further astray from nirvana - the ultimate "unconditioned" state of mind free of all doctrines that binds us to this world.

This is our second time self-releasing music, and we thought it was the perfect opportunity to experiment with a different style of music. We appreciate you coming along for the journey and we hope you'll enjoy the change of pace as much we enjoyed making it!

Our first international show was a wild success - closing out Sauna at Ritter Butzke with the @stilvortalent family was a dream come true! Berlin, you really know how to party, even at 7am you were still going strong and we felt like we could've kept playing for hours. And going back-to-back with @elifmusique at the end was a fun surprise, we love her music and sets and so it was a huge honor to share the decks with her!

Big thanks to @oliverkoletzki and the team at Stil Vor Talent as well as @ritter-butzke, it was wonderful to meet everyone and experience a true night out in Berlin for the first time. Can't wait for the next one!

Pressure is one of those timeless songs that defines an era, the peak of the EDM wave in America and a cornerstone of our early sets in college back before Local Dialect even existed.

While searching for inspiration one day we listened to Pressure for the first time in a while, and all those memories came flooding back. Dropping it to a sweaty pulsating dance floor that functioned as a dining hall in the daytime. Listening to it on broken speakers with our crew at 4am when we should've been studying. Battling a crowd for footing while Alesso played it at Ezoo in 2013.

When we got down to writing with Nadia Ali's vocals, the song came together effortlessly, one of those magical moments where the music seems to write itself.

Since then we've been tweaking and testing it at almost every one of our shows and we're so excited to finally share it with you!
