FAUZIA is an artist of many moods. The UK talent moves from IDM to soul on her NTS Radio residency, while her club DJ sets reveal her love for '90s-style breaks, electro and bass-heavy sounds. In the studio, she explores her softer side through self-released homespun dub and ambient jungle.

In recent years, she's gravitated towards live performances. Her gossamer vocals, one of her strongest suits, cuts through live instrumentation like a hummingbird in agile flight. In 2020, the London-based talent told Mixmag that she was done being categorised as a "dance music" artist—and so far, she's succeeded. While she incorporates clubby touchstones into her work, there's a deep level of cross-genre knowledge and blending at play.

FAUZIA's RA podcast makes that clear. Free of any four-to-the-floor music, it moves from experimental jazz to orchestral melodies to R&B ballads for a thoughtful and introspective journey full of her own unreleased music that points towards her newer interest in composition. This EP has its roots in the most contemporary, trendy yet not necessarily the most used genres: it flows from wonky hip hop to hauntology. Relying heavily on sampling, the EP succeeds in being a very personal (and thus, original) piece of work that attempts to capture what makes each of us unique, things like personal memories and the places we have grown in.

"95" has the sheer energy of a 1990 Romanian disco club revisited with a 2010 post-rave attitude. It's like reading The Three Musketeers after spending the weekend dancing in Berlin.

One of Eastern Europe’s most exciting musical exports, Karpov not Kasparov began making music based on the rules and strategies of chess. It might seem complicated but the output is always a very danceable tune. There are some classical allusions and plenty of oriental flavours (because chess is an Oriental game) but always there is this powerful dance-floor bass-driven sound that makes you jump and shout.

Local Records is a Romanian electronic music label which promotes homegrown electronic music producers and defines local Romanian sound.
For the past 15 years, the Romanian electronic music scene evolved in attitude and artistic awareness. The time has come to focus on the essence of a music scene – its producers. Until now, in Romania, electronic music producers have been working by themselves and sharing their music only in small circles. The public is not aware of their existence and does not perceive them as an artistic movement of any kind. This lack of communication and perspectives (the chance to be heard by a bigger audience, to have local and international success, to be appreciated, supported and promoted) discourages any future producers that are thinking to choose this direction.
Local Records wants to create an artistic community of mutual interests and to discover a new Romanian sound by encouraging producers which currently don’t have the stimuli to persevere and show their true potential.
