The Swindlers return and not a minute too soon as far as we’re
concerned!  The hardest working duo in house music have had a
mental couple of years playing every club and festival known to
man, having babies, seemingly buying up the entire stock of vintage
studio gear off ebay and thankfully knocking out some banging tunes
on top of all that.  Well all club bangers gratefully received here
at Freerange so with open arms and ears we’re happy to be bringing
you the Figure Of Speech EP.
Just as the non-believers think they know what to expect from these two they’ve thrown a rather large curveball and headed down a different road. Figure Of Speech wears some African influences on its sleeve with a bumping party groove punctuated by some nifty
afro beat keys stabs and just a hint of acid. Victoria’s Secret
treads more familiar Detroit Swindle territory with the boys trademark shuffling beats and larger-than-life side-chained pads bringing the drama. Finally, we have suitably titled Live At The Cosmic Carnival where we’re treated to some peaktime tribal business with rolling bass, dubbed out dancehall science and some nifty conga work. All in all, some fiyah for the dancefloor from a pair of lads who know a thing or two about how to get a room jumping.

It can happen that things come together without too much planning. That's how Beno, Bernardo Campos and Gush ended up with Space Jazz EP. Three artists from Rio, all coming from slightly different corners of music, sitting down to play and letting themselves go. Bernardo has been around the block, playing in sweaty Rio clubs, the kind of gigs where you get a nod from a bunch of legends and realise you did your job right. He's carried that curiosity everywhere, from beach bars in Bahia to late-night residencies back home. Beno comes from a newer wave, restless, building labels, ideas, and pushing Brazilian electronic music as far as he could. And Gush, the jazz head who grew up in a house full of Musica Popular Brasileira, now turning all that heritage into keyboard lines that sound open and breezy. He's the little spice that make the dish better. Here's what these three minds are about: a small harmonic collision that just makes perfect sense. The EP is two tracks. Space Jazz, the opener, with the obvious title. There is a groove, there are keys, but it's more about the air between them. They converse. J All Night is even warmer, the kind of tune you keep close for when the night is stretching past reason. Both are simple, comforting. It's House music, after all, made by people, not machines. The record marks the 58th release on Apparel Music's EXTRA catalogue. EXTRA has been our corner for novelties for a while now, our way of scratching that itch to try things out. So here it is: two tracks, three minds, one little story from Rio that we're happy to share. Space Jazz EP lands October 17th, 2025.

Master edit man Delfonic is back with more reworked gold from his favourites folder. He kicks off with the funky horns and disco lushness of 'Up & Down', then 'JaJaJa' slows things down and layers in some chunky drums to a cosmically-minded workout. 'Unity Together' is a percussive jumble with funky hooks and grooves that are always on the move and bubbling beneath the smooth vocals. Last but not least is 'Feeling It', which we really love. This one has a buttery male vocal adding weight to buoyant and instrumental disco grooves that dazzle with bright melodies and life-giving strings. A wonderfully uplifting EP.

Everybody loves a disco gram or two, wink wink, but Spanish label DiscoGram is also a sign of a good time. The main label has put out more than 30 juicy tunes but here they launch a new sub-series, again with the in-house production team at the helm. 'Linda' kicks it off with bright, extroverted and slightly camp disco energy and diva vocals. 'Pages' is a slinky strider with a pained vocal bringing the soulful heat and offering a hugely impressive falsetto crescendo. 'Tabaco Y Ron' gets more florid with its Latin flutes and rhythmic vocal coos, then 'Xulipa' ends with swooning strings and a graceful air of disco cool with some recognizable vocal hooks.
