If I had to come up with a label / artist dream team, @LocalTalk and @Opolopo would definitely be high up there. Both are renowned for releasing scintillating underground house and disco, music which tugs on the heart strings as much as it moves the dancefloor. Their next release is the Opolopo Tweaks album where Opolopo has reworked some of Local Talk's finest moments alongside a few of the labels deeper gems putting his golden production touch on them.

Our premier today sees Opolopo take on what was undoubtedly one of the finest moments of late 2020 early 2021 in the shape of Soul Renegades stunning 'Speak To Me'. The result is pretty spectacular building on the deep hypnotic groove of the original with all the brilliance of Opolopo's incredible drum programming and extra added keys. We start the new year with a very exciting talent from South Africa! Johannesburg resident KaySoul started his career in 2010
and has since been growing his name and fanbase with releases on Berlin’s Tooman and upcoming on “Shall Not Fade” later this year.

The opener “Mr Ray in Cosmic” hits all “good times” boxes for us, a great deep and up-tempo house track that will surely work perfectly on any late night dance floor. Followed by the soul laden slow mover “Behind One”, here you can hear KaySoul’s love for the early Detroit and Chicago house movement, great diversity in sound and a cool crossover of hip hop/ soul and deep house. The third track is our personal favourite, a deep and dwelling house jam that reminiscences the legacy of producers like Kerri Chandler and Larry Heard. 
That bass line is irresistible!

To top things off we asked our good friend Clive to put his magic accounting skills on “Behind One”. Out came a perfect house meets garage meets deep electronic goodness. A real grower and as soon as you finished listening to it that melody is stuck in your head for hours and hours… we are really grateful to have him back on this EP after his dope “Cooking the Books EP” from last summer on Dirt Crew.

All tracks have been mastered by Salz Mastering in Cologne.

We hope you’re sharing our enthusiasm for Milton Jackson finding his creative flow again after several years hiatus. The Scotsman has played a key role in helping shape the sound of the label since his first release on Freerange back in 2006 and we’re proud to continue bringing you his chunky, warm, deep house sounds you know and love!

Here on the Closure EP we’re treated to three tracks of jazz-flecked summery grooves to move to. Kicking off with Need Your Love, Milton teams up with London keys-man and producer Ski Oakenfull for a bouncing piano house track which sounds like Roy Ayers jamming out with Kerri Chandler and Larry Heard over stripped back beats and an infectious bass line.
Next up is Day In, Day Out, just the kind of sun-drenched soulful groove that MJ does to perfection with building strings, euphoric synth stabs and a little vocal hook for that icing on the cake. Wrapping things up in fine style we have the EP title track Closure which pushes the jazz influences to the front, and even adding a touch of gospel flavour in the heartfelt chord progression and organ pads. Crisp, punchy, swinging beats and MAW-style vocal hits keep things rough and ready and before you know it you’ll be bouncing along with a massive grin on your face.

Brucey bonus for the vinyl heads… we’ve added a favourite track of ours from his last digital-only EP to this release. Birdsong is a low-slung tropical delight which is one of those grooves that can’t fail to nice up the dance!
