One of the brand-new tracks taken from James Curd mostly-retrospective debut album ‘Taking All This Time’, ‘1000 Years’ arrives to transport you into a warm summer haze and give another taste of this stunning record.
‘1000 Years’ is another exemplary Curd-cut, a melodic deep house beauty laced with a dulcet vocal from newcomer Natasha Lillith. Led by soulful, pulsing electric piano chords and a warm bassline, the groove has a little Brazilian feel to it, only heightened by summery guitar licks applied in just the right moments. Lillith's soft vocal tones are the perfect accompaniment for this balmy groove, transporting you instantly to a warm beach with sand between your toes.
French producer Kendal (Dischi Autunno/Ritmo Fatale) goes for a future garage vibe on his remix, where brooding synths soar atop peppy, pacey 2-step beats. Phunkadelica (Multinotes | Correspondant | Permanent Vacation | Innervisions | Engrave LTD), by contrast, opt for an Italo disco direction with an epic piano breakdown.

Ineffekt presents Kora, his 10 track debut album on Intercept. In around 40 minutes, the 19-year-old takes you through his colorful springtime of youth, sonically painting a picture with a diverse and vibrant set of sounds that feel like the first rays of sunshine after a long winter. 

Through a blend of glistening vocal pieces, strings of dreamy melodies, and distinctive rhythms, Ineffekt cleverly takes on a sound that both feels comfortable and illusive. It’s a nonchalant approach with ephemeral peaks of emotion that result in a combination of colorful and groovy songs. 

After the success of his EP ‘Solaris’ (2020) on Intercept, Ineffekt further cements his sound all while positioning himself between the club world, and the pop hemisphere. Catchy motifs are interchanged with grooves that feel like a constant drive towards the horizon. Standout tracks ‘Cascades’, ‘In a Flash’ and ‘Kora’ all show his tendency for anthemic sentiment, all while keeping depth and clarity to his sound. 

The record further reveals its diversity by going into more filmic and peculiar tracks such as ‘Vibrant Bands of Yellow’ and ’See You Blossom’, while also diving deeper into feelings of nostalgia and ambivalence. The juxtaposition of these two sides show a young artist, fully in bloom as the flowers he surrounds himself with.

PREMIERE: Babsy - Sundazed (Original Mix) [MOTE Records]

Italian producer Philip Lawns creates a masterful retake on Great White Shark's stellar instrumental track ‘Someone Else’s City’. An ambient intro is penetrated by punchy electronic percussion and before long the synth hook from the original makes its way into existence. The remix repurposes the driving indie bassline for hypnotic electro notes and the guitars for synths that blend seamlessly together giving the song a new identity. The track’s slow burning feel is always moving forward as it twists and turns its way through creative new interludes which explore a light and shade that surprises the listener at every turn. An impressive result on top of what is already an exceptional track.
