UK Bass #007: Summer Edition

First of all I want to say big up to everyone for the love I've been shown from my set at Boiler Room Pres. Bass & Percs: Leeds, both on the night and all the messages afterwards. The attention it got and some of the things people have said were pretty surreal. I've had loads of people asking about my set from the night itself after all the crazy videos I was sent and reposted. Just before the event I was told there was never a plan to broadcast the visuals as it was part of a club night tour however the decks were setup to record the audio but unfortunately there was a problem with the equipment which was a downer to say the least as this was easily one of the best experiences of my life, not just by being in a room of such a dense energy but being a contributor to it. I had the tracklist so I wanted to rerecord it for myself (even without the crowd audio/reloads) so I have it to come back to in the years to come to remind me of different points from the night so it only made sense to share it due to everyone asking.

I wanted this set to be exactly what the outcome was - something that would stay with people (myself included) that they would remember for years to come. Knowing this was an extended set (the longest live set I've ever done) and it being Boiler Room I spent everyday for 3 weeks digging deep through my Rekordbox building a set that would portray not just my style as a DJ but integral club sounds over the past 20 years (even though I've only being DJ'ing 5 I've followed these scenes for nearly 15 years). The outcome was a set that picked out some of my favourite blends/mix's and tracks - new and old, since I started DJ'ing. All of this as well as making it flow proved quite the task but something that delivered Grime, Dubstep, Garage, House, Jersey/Club, Funky & UK Bass.. Enjoy.

Heartless Crew welcome a mix from LOCKT representing 1Xtra's last Venue Spotlight - the infamous 'Wire' in Leeds.

Had to make this mix a special one. 8 years after first walking through the doors of Wire as a punter I was asked to represent them on BBC Radio 1Xtra for Heartless Crew Venue Spotlight. I raved their monthly for a few years from 2012 (shouts to Elijah & Skilliam/Butterz) to playing and putting on events there the last 3 years. It's come full circle. My sound has been moulded by my experiences in Wire over the years. Big hats and deep basslines. I put in a load of artists and types of sounds I've experienced in the club over the years.

The Leeds based music connoisseur also featured on Chris Lorenzo’s Bass Mentality Tour. 2019 saw further bookings for the likes of Detonate with Chase & Status as well as being part of Marcus Nasty's 'Exceptional DJs' project on Rinse FM before going b2b w/ Elijah at Butterz. 2020 started with a bang with his first international booking in Prague at the infamous Cross][Club before being the first DJ from Leeds within the relevant Genres to play a Leeds Boiler Room and then onto representing Leeds for BBC 1Xtras 'Venue Spotlight' for the venue where it all began..
