Two young talents born in the south of Italy, Samuele Defendi and Giovanni Basile, aka Smoud Beats, have been bringing their sound rooted in minimal, acid and garage to key clubs across their home nation while also featuring as regulars for the iconic Buongiorno Classic. 

Alongside their own imprint Smoud Traxx and their ‘Smoudy Tunes’ series, the two have also released music on the likes of DimSumRecords and 4Plae Records, and they build on things with a label debut on LOCUS for their first release of 2024 with five new cuts across their ‘Out Of Body’ EP. Squelchy and cosmic, with warping synths taking hold early, lead cut ‘Out Of Body’ kicks things off in style while ‘Speedy G’ brings an abundance of speed garage influences reinforced by vibrant dub sirens. Next, ‘Frequency Test (Cleveland Mix) effortlessly merges M1 organs with skippy percussion, contrasted against the tunnelling grooves, crisp kicks and wobbly sub-bass of ‘Feel The M’. Closing the show is ‘Acid Romario’, as the duo dive into a hazy, trippy journey to see out proceedings.

Samuele Defendi and Giovanni Basile aka Smoud Beats where born in 1997 in southern Italy. As a childs in strong contact with the music, but they are in adolescence passion takes over. They stands out with its drum rhythms and hypnotic synths, constantly looking for new sounds, with strong UK Garage,Acid House,Minimal and many more influences. In October 2017 they began their self-titlet label Smoud Traxx, having since the first releases a huge support in the underground scene. Releasing many artists and friends from all over the world. Having opportunity to make showcases in Italy and England.

In the Summer 2018 they had the opportunity to become part of the famous group Buongiorno Classic where they regularly express their sound and also perform from the south to the north of Italy,

Over the past 2 years Gio and Samuele released their “Smoudy Tunes” which was the way of expressing what they feel through music.They just wanted to create something special that resonated with people on a personal level.

In addition to this they also released other vinyl and digital tracks, also released the series Smoud Transmissions, series of podcasts, where they publish recordings of artists performing during their parties.
