Following an array of tour dates this summer, including his Sintillate residency at Nikki Beach in Ibiza, plus standout performances at Café Mambo and alongside Tom Zanetti at Ibiza Rocks, Dax’s journey continues with his debut artist album ‘My Vision’ on Discopolis.

A musician from an early age, Dax’s intense classical training and wide-ranging experience have given him the foundation to excel as one of the most exciting sax players in the game. With all the charisma and presence you would expect from a contemporary musician, Dax’s energy inspired performances captivate his every audience whilst his truly unique soulful sound makes him an instant hit with the crowds. With a true love for house music and a natural ability to interpret the most complex of popular electronic material, it is no surprise that Dax’s transition into the realm of house music has been nothing short of effortless. Recognised by many as one of the most exciting performers of our generation, Dax has already featured alongside some of the biggest international DJ’s whilst holding down residencies around the globe with HedKandi in addition to being a regular feature at many A-list celebrity event.

Demonstrating that as an artist Dax is so much more than just a global touring saxophonist, ‘My Vision’ encapsulates Dax’s love for House music in all shapes and sizes. From deep to disco, thumping basslines to hands-in-the-air piano moments, ‘My Vision’ features some of the most exciting vocalists of the moment in PowerDress, Sweet Female Attitude, Lisa Shaw, Mike City, Scarlett Quinn, Jade Leigh and more to lay down their vocal individuality throughout the album as well as collaborations with International DJ/producers Loéca (Ocean Beach Ibiza) & Carl Hanaghan (HedKandi).

Dax explains 'Having listened to house music since an early age, the opportunity to put my own stamp on some fresh new music, taking influence from tracks I had obsessed over for years has made a dream a reality. Next up on Pogo House Records, we introduce Jacssen from Ontario, Canada. Jacssen delivers Pogo release 140 in the form of a 6 track EP consisting of the original track ‘Odyssey Of Sound’ with 5 healthy remixes. The original track leans more to a moody deep number with 70’s documentary style spoken word riding over the top of clean crisp percussion arrangements. CJ Reign picks up the first remix with a heavy saxophone intro progressing into a warm meaningful four to the floor vibe that slowly builds into a lovely piano breakdown towards the end. Martin Depp Bank holiday remix is the second remix on this ep and Martin gives us a heavier Garage House Vibe with a conspicuous wobbling bassline that rolls throughout. Man of the moment Fizzikx picks up remix 3 and drops a Remix that has a feel of a 90’s classic house with a deep groovy floor shaking bassline. Swing & Jam bossman 4Tek picks up this remix with the 4Tek signature head nodding upbeat melodic house vibe. Last but not least the fifth remix on this ep is by Canadian producer Trevor Gordon. Trevor drops the tempo low and gives us a deep underground vibe on this track with a tight punchy bassline, one for the deeper heads out there.

Here Mixmag presents the exclusive premiere of 'LP001C1', an deep house ballad possessing a sensual and emotive essence.

As the label describes: "For this double vinyl LP we picked amongst the different souls that house music has got, from disco to lo-fi, always focusing on our 'jazzy' watermark and giving the opportunity to the artists to prove their interpretative skills on this theme once again."

Cult favourite Submorphics delivers his long awaited debut album “Kodak Dreams” on Amsterdam imprint The North Quarter. 15 year veteran producer Greg Axelrad has been one of America's premiere exports when it comes to Soulful Drum & Bass. His unmistakable 'smoked-out' take on the genre has made him a fan favourite for years. After his The North Quarter debut “Detroit Haze” early 2018, he now returns with his most ambitious project yet: “Kodak Dreams”. Written during a time of great personal highs and lows, his debut album is easily his most personal body of work. The Michigan native drew inspiration from his transatlantic journey and childhood memories to paint this musical memoir.

A multi-genre piece that features vocals from frequent collaborators Big Brooklyn Red, SelfSays, T.R.A.C. and Christina Tamayo, this album brings together Soulful Drum & Bass and LA / Detroit-flavoured Beats with an easy elegance. UK label Thylacine Sounds was created by Danced Til Midnight  DJ & producer Andy Anderson.  Since 2015 the labels been bringing together elements of disco, funk, hip hop, and house. They’ve been host to releases by hip hop godfather The Egyptian Lover, disco stalwarts Faze Action, The Revenge, Kenny Summit and renowned hip hop beatsmith Tall Black Guy. 

 

The ‘Real Love EP’ combines uncut funk with a pair of deep house groovers in the form remixes of the title track.  ‘Kaytronik’s Hornzy Dub’ delivers a jackin’ and deep interpretation; layering Chicago House-inflected beats and saucy sax reminiscent of Cajmere with supremely soulful vocals whilst setting these elements against a brooding, sultry backdrop.  This remix is full of the Baltimore flavour and signature bounce you’d expect from Kaytronik.

 

The ‘Byron The Aquarius Remix’ is a jazzy, deep house rendition of the original. Underpinned by a heavy house beat with a hard 4 to the floor kick, a combination of hypnotic pads, wandering sax and percussion. The chopped up vocal stabs give this mix the feel of house music from the dawn of the Balearic explosion.

 

Other side of the record houses the original funk renditions by Danced Til Midnight.  ‘Real Love’ combines afrobeat-inspired rhythms with soulful vocals and a Sun Ra- like soundscape.  The second cut ‘Top Shelf Liquor’, continues the psychedelia-infused excursion this time underpinned by a P-Funk groove, jazzy sax riff and  lyrical commentary.
