Just a musical expression of my emotions these past few days.

Soundscape

A nightmare is a personal experience. It does not have to be scary or so, but this doesn't mean it can't stick with you for the better part of the day. Or even longer.

Nightmare

This track was entirely built around a sound recording my sister made at my request. 
She used her Zoom H1 to record the surge at the pebble beach of Veulettes-sur-Mer, Normandy, France.  

I like to transform recordings into a more electronic, almost industrial, 
sound. After listening to the result many times, I started building using this foundation, adding various sound blocks to not only create a complex, and gripping soundscape but also help the listener, giving him references to experience his own journey whilst being enveloped by this track. 

Almost all other sound sources like the rain and the thunder I recorded with the Zoom H3-VR.

Then, after 2/3 of this track, I got stuck. A creative block. 
I wanted something soothing, relaxing to end this track without having an obvious style break. A sign of hope after the dark, cold, and industrial atmosphere I had created. 

It also needed to be more “musical”.

So, for a few days, after coming home from work, I listened to what I already had. Cooked my dinner, ate, and then started playing on my keyboards, using various soft synths, just using my impressions of listening only once to what I had already created.

Finally, it all fell together. Using Pigments, and wavetables I created a simple evolving pad. I played around with it at night, playing on my Arturia Keystep 32, just recording the sound, as it came out of my computer’s soundcard and the Yamaha speakers, with the Zoom HR-3 VR.
I made 3 takes but finally chose the first one.

I composed this track using a few music clips I made, and, mostly captured audio with the Zoom H3-VR that I converted to binaural.

It took quite a while since I composed new material. Probably because I wasn't in a good place. Self-doubt and depression sticking their ugly head up again (been suffering from depression for as long as I can remember, with ups and downs, appearing out of nowhere).

Then I finally finished this track and I am very happy with the result. It is dark yet gives hope. 

The cover image was shot with an Olympus OM-1n camera with 400 ISO Fomapan. The lens is the sublime 50mm f1.4 coated lens from Olympus.

Eternity Forever

I wanted to create something a little different from my normal style. It sounds creepy and very industrial. 

What are your thoughts? I am inquisitive!

Crossing The Styx

This is the first music track that I share. I don't know anything about music, I can't even read notes. I do have a sense of rhythm though.  Well, that's what I like to think.
I mainly play on feelings, on emotions. I find it kind of liberating, being a complete musical nitwit.

Atmospheric Storm

Even as a nature & landscape photographer and filmmaker I find story very important. 
So, I started thinking about kind of an ambient & electronic track that tells a story with enough room for the listeners imagination to work with. 
Obviously, this track is far from being even close to somewhat perfect. Keep in mind though that I am just starting with music. I create using my sense of rhythm and feeling for atmosphere.

The Fourth

Stephan (°1959) is an IT Engineer and a passionate photographer, both digital and film. 
A few years ago, he also started making short video clips.
Nature and landscape are his inspiration.

Out of this came the need for music and using the time in lockdown during the 2020-2021 Covid-19 pandemic he started experimenting with soft synthesizers and a Euro rack modular synth.
Stephan has no formal music education but relies not only on his feeling for rhythm but also tries to create strong visual images in the listeners' imagination.
