Living structures, percussive biosystems. For this episode I like to welcome YPY @koshiro-hino

Heading over from the Osaka underground club scene multi-instrumentalist and composer Koshiro Hino better known as YPY takes us into a world of heavy electronics, jazz influences and ritmo percussives. Next to his YPY long-running solo output. Hino is also a musician in a minimalist instrumental band named Goat. With his new record label NAKID he tries to earmark unheard organics and unpredictable ways of sound. 

I'm very pleased that he participated and will be the one to guide us through his musical fascinations.

"I had a lot of fun recording this mix. It consists of road-tested favourites from the past year, new finds and some older go-tos. Recently I’ve been trying to incorporate more off-grid, non-dance music into club sets—playing around with layering unquantized styles to get that nice rough around the edges feel. I think it’s a good representation of what I try to do in a club setting — rapid cycling through different genres and styles in a way that throws you around a bit but remains danceable. All of it indebted to and geared towards the soundsystem. A lot of three-deck action and healthy dub siren usage throughout. Thanks for inviting me to contribute to the series!"

How can the unfamiliar feel so close? Dookuzot, the debut EP by Floid and W92 (aka Woody92), invites listeners to venture into the echo chambers of the psyche on their Omen Wapta imprint. Like a salvaged coat of arms, this 8-track release weaves the cryptic motifs of the blood brothers into its sonic fabric, blending unease with ease through stealthy rhythms and dissonant harmonies. One a sonic visionary, the other a sound artist—together, they transform decades of shared family history into an imaginary realm of the mind.

Like a medieval quest, Dookuzot sends you into the wilderness, armed with arcane energy, urging you to explore the blurred lines between the familiar and the strange. Yet, as one absorbs the full story, a central motif emerges among the obscure artefacts: brotherhood—evoking a shared yet deeply personal ancestral resonance.

The air shifts. Drawn from a live composition and distilled into eleven personal mantras, Raär's Incentive unfolds as a long-player sonic rite, tracing a path through a wind chamber. A narrative pulled into motion by a propulsive undercurrent.

The eleventh opus in Omen Wapta's lineage begins with flickers at the edge of vision. No clear path, just shapes that rise and vanish in the periphery. The air carries tension. Low hums lean into pressure. The ground rolls forward.

Trees bend inward. A summons breathes from below, hovering between clarity and wandering dust. The pace fractures. A space opens. Long enough to feel it pass: a shadow, a pulse, a question. Something inside has turned.

The chase tightens. Each element presses against the next. Inside the rhythm. Inside the self. Overtones shiver. The wind doesn't stop. It carries what remains. Sound, now memory. Movement, now shadow. Incentive carves deeper into Raär's terrain. Untethered, inward, and elemental. He sculpts in weight and pressure, low-end as bedrock. FX opens the ground between weight and light. Tape compression binds the vessel. Beneath, a drone exhales. Charged with trace.

Every track, a step. Each pause, a turn. Guided to feel, not to grasp.

The enigmatic genius Shackleton’s contribution to Bleep’s mix series is completely and utterly captivating. In his first mix in almost a decade, the music blends tracks from 2019’s Reach The Endless Sea and 2020’s Like The Stars Forever And Ever, the two LPs Shackleton has made as part of the group Tunes Of Negation. These numbers are spliced together with live versions, improvisatory passages and droning interludes which were fashioned by Shackleton resampling pre-existing tracks. Those who know Shackleton from his dubstep days will find that his sound has changed considerably since then - his intoxicating style now nods more to Jon Hassell’s fourth world explorations, Indian classical music, the rhythmic phasing of Steve Reich and post-minimalist artists like Midori Takada. This earthy, psychedelic hour serves as a fascinating chronicle of how Shackleton’s artistic voice has developed down the years.  

"The mix is made up of tracks from the two "Tunes Of Negation" albums, some live versions, and some studio improvisations.  I made some bridges between the tracks with drones and the like that I created out of parts from existing tunes that I resampled and generally messed around with."
