This collection of label boss Sasha Carassi&#8217;s tracks boasts remastered gems from the past and brand-new tracks ready to be placed in many a Techno arsenal.The first half of this compilation consists of Sasha&#8217;s older works which feel right at home with his newer productions and that&#8217;s not just because of the remastering. All of the elements we know and love are here; pulsating synths, shadowy effects, tense atmospherics and stomping drums.The three closing tracks show Mr. Carassi in top form again, with &#8220;Phorme&#8221; setting the tone with staccato stabs and rumbling subs. &#8220;Globular Cluster&#8221; gives a taste of a dismal, mechanized future, and the closing &#8220;Old Fashioned Lover&#8221; gives a firm nod to the old school with trademarked chords and familiar vocals.

Label boss Sasha Carassi takes control of the situation and delivers the futuristic &#8220;Echoes&#8221;, which is led by haunting synths and arpeggiated intricacies, all coming together to form a nostalgic vibe, while the persistent rhythm section chugs away and commanding vocal snippets keep the heads down. Things tense up a bit on &#8220;Clorophilia&#8221; where we are treated to growling synthesis and mutating, analog goodness, leaving clever effects to fill in the gaps and keep the suspense level high.

It&#8217;s time for Sasha Carassi&#8217;s &#8220;Echoes&#8221; from a few months ago to receive remix treatment, and Skober&#8217;s interpretation is up first and focuses on the melodic elements of the Original but cleverly adds moody synths which add to the overall epicness of the affair, especially in the grandiose breakdown. Layton Giordani is up next with his trademarked shadowy sound and impeccable arrangement, offering yet another angle of attack. Last but not least are Loco &amp; Jam dubbing things out with bursts of references to the original in key moments, while maintaining a rocksteady vibe sprinkled with discordant stabs.

Adam Beyer’s Drumcode juggernaut attracts more fans and critical plaudits with each passing year. Holding firm on its future facing ethos, techno’s number one label presents a new volume in its acclaimed A-Sides series with 20 prime tracks to signify its 20th anniversary. 

Such is the volume of quality music Adam Beyer receives throughout the course of the year, releasing all of it would be impossible. Enter the blue chip A-Sides series: a chance for the quality-obsessive label head to issue a collection of outstanding tracks that couldn’t fit in their regular EP release schedule. 

With an eye on future talent, as much as the label’s established roster of heavy-hitters, the compilation showcases the full breadth of Drumcode’s multifaceted techno sound, equal parts inspiring and functional. 

Led by the stealth techno funk of ‘Nine of You’, Beyer’s deft collaboration with Mark Reeve, the compilation takes in exciting highlights from big guns such as Alan Fitzpatrick, Dustin Zahn, Bart Skils, Pleasurekraft, Luca Agnelli, Jay Lumen, Kaiserdisco and Gary Beck. 

The rich vein of form displayed by emerging techno talent is similarly given prime position. Rising DJ/producer Boxia makes his Drumcode debut, fresh from a well-received warm up set for the crew at the hugely successful Junction 2 festival in London, while the likes of Enrico Sangiuliano, Juan Sanchez, Ian O’Donovan and Timmo also drop fire, establishing their credentials as some of the most promising talent breaking through the ranks in 2016. 

Reinforcing the global scope of the label, artists such as The Junkies from Toronto and Layton Giordani from New York, prove techno is winning a place in the heart of the new generation of artists coming out of North America.

When Pig&Dan decided to join forces, they began a truly prolific production schedule establishing their reputation as producers of pulsating electronic music that straddled dark house and high-energy techno, whilst creating their signature style of twisted and experimental breakdowns. Since those early days, they have created a repertoire that not many can match and have constantly been releasing their music on the most respected labels and playing at the best events worldwide.

Pig&Dan follow up to their outstanding first EP on Drumcode with ‘Chemistry’. Compromising of three tracks the mood fluctuates with each record to create a well-balanced, dynamic EP. Chemistry is a dreamy listening platform that mixes cyclic synth lines and stabs to crescendo into a late night imagination. The other two tracks are on the harder tip with their thunderous kick drums and disorientated sounds that provide a different edge to the EP with a harder, peak time sound.

If you were lucky enough to find yourself at closing sets at Movement Detroit, Pressure Glasgow, Junction 2 London, Summer Story Madrid, Governors Island New York, Rebel Toronto, Awakenings Amsterdam or Glastonbury, there is no doubt you would have pulled a face when you heard 'Point of No Return' for the first time. We've lost count of the amount of fan videos, ID requests we've received on the whole EP.

Manchester’s Rudosa has been crafting his sound for the last decade. In that time, he has been a Sankeys Manchester resident DJ and has had a number of releases on the Stereo Productions, Deeperfect and Wow! Recordings labels. 2018 has been solid for the man, with the release of his 'Invasion' EP on Carl Cox’s Intec and another 4 track EP on Suara which drew support from techno luminaries Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer, Amelie Lens and Charlotte De Witte.

December brings a new record on Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave. ‘Activated’ is a three-track smasher with the high energy you expect from Rudosa. The title track immediately draws you in with its captivating vocal stabs. ‘Hypoxia’ has a similar vibe with more resonating vocals and rippling melodies.
