Written in response to movement choreographed by Rebecca Krummel, "Beta Fragments" takes the formal shape of a sequence of developments on the opening gesture inspired by the quasi-canonical and ordered  movement of the choreography, and the space in which the dancers were traveling.

A few years ago I was fiddling around on my piano. For whatever reason, I plucked out the melody from "The Star Spangled Banner." And, I thought to myself, "I wonder what this would sound like with a funny and scary Russian spin on it?"  Now, years later - with nothing better to do during my spare COVID quarantine time - I finally created this pet project joke I've had in the back of my head.
