Marcus Lambkin aka Shit Robot is, in many ways, as pure DFA as anyone else. He’s been here since before the beginning, a centrifugal force pulling everyone together, an anchor of no-nonsense style and humor that is as core to our being as the fucking lightning bolt.

We’ve put out a lot of Shit Robot records. They’re all great. But it’s been a minute since the last one. (Life happens.)

Earlier this year, the drought ended when Marcus sent us some demos he’d been toiling away on in the attic. We loved them immediately. They were raw and rudimentary tracks that felt completely unbothered with where they might fit in and what year it was. They were sharp and smart, the sound of the party where we wanted to be.

He went to Al Doyle’s place in London to finish them off, and then James mixed everything here at DFA. Bob mastered it in Chicago. Somewhere along the way, Suzi Horn from Prinzhorn Dance School and Mutado Pintado from Warmduscher added two incredible vocals as only they could.

It’s 5 Songs, both the name of it and the thing itself. Nominative determinism. 5 complete belters.

The release arrives as a tribute to David Lynch, featuring visuals from his recreation of the Trinity nuclear test as seen in Twin Peaks: The Return.

“The Biennial originally commissioned the track, and I closed my show with it there, but it felt like the right time to finally share it with the world. David was a big influence on a lot that underpins Fantastic Twins and this is my swan song to an amazing person.”

Following her acclaimed 2023 album, “Two Is Not A Number,” the great Julienne Dessagne’s Fantastic Twins project continues to surprise; in this instance, transforming the original into something entirely new.

Head honchos of the wonderful Delodio label, Stéphane and François, mark the 50th release for R$N Recs, and this is without a shadow of a doubt an incredibly special one for us. So, sit back and ready yourself for some inimitable Froid Dub cuts; laid back but pounding, graceful yet aggressive but above all, thoroughly danceable.

First single On The Nose enters next, with a delightfully soft, round bass that feels like bouncing around a padded room. Inside a Zorb. On MDMA. More echoed, analogue motifs dart from left to right, confirming with strong conviction that our chaps from Paris put the Dub in Indubitably Fantastic.

PREMIERE: Froid Dub - On The Nose [Ransom Note Records]

“No Cigar” is a track that didn’t make it onto 2023’s 5 Songs, which was, technically, five songs, so there wasn’t room. It’s a pokey, plonky bit of dance music from Shit Robot (aka Marcus Lambkin), made with Joe Goddard and Al Doyle at their RAE Studios in London.

It sounded… dubby. Like “what if Adrian Sherwood got his hands on this?” dubby. So we asked. And he said yes!

The b-side is classic Sherwood at the controls—a version that’s not fully exploded, but submerged, warped, a little demented. We’re honored and still hearing crazy new sounds every time we play it.

The “No Cigar” 12-inch is out July 25. Pre-order it now before you can’t.

The Midlands/Southern contingent from the Flightpath Estate (Barry and Mark) will be playing the album and DJing and our very special guest Richard Fearless will be doing a two hour vinyl set.
Richard has an incredible exclusive track 'Haywired' on the album which will be available to purchase on the night and will come with a limited edition print by our creative director @personality___crisis for the first 50 purchases.
