10 releases strong, Poker Flat Digital has become an important wing of Steve Bug‘s acclaimed, cutting-edge label. Determined to keep quality levels as high as ever and offer yet more choice to the label‘s fans, a heavyweight cast starred in this latest chapter of the Poker Flat story.

This special 12‘‘ release gathers 4 of the highlights from the label‘s catalogue so far. 

First up to the controls is NYC new kid of the block MANIK. He gives us ‚Pure Liquid‘ in a freaked out wild-pitch affair 2011 style! His fresh production and new ideas give this a real modern feel, while the arrangement and raw drums keep it heavy for the club.

Daryl Stay‘s ‚My Groove‘ gets the Vincenzo treatment in this classic-vibed killer. Tough, pumping drums open alongside a soaring synth layer that builds into a rave siren of monstrous proportions!!
Jay Tripwire presents his ‚8 Channels‘ project with ‚Control‘. Its a deliciously stripped piece of future house. Bouncing, shaking and snaking, the freaked out vocal stands out loud and proud in this addictive number.

Finally the veteran skills of Russ Gabriel bring a twisted modern acid jam to the table with ‚Prey Tell‘. Sneaky, typically freaky synth lines intertwine amongst jackin drums and subtly building arrangements!

London's Mark Henning has risen up as one of the underground's true players - recording for a volley of international house & techno labels.

With an ever increasing following over the years, Mark has established himself as a consistent producer of quality underground house and techno having released music on well-regarded labels such as Soma, Hypercolour, Poker Flat, Freude am Tanzen and more recently his own imprint Swing. His sound sits somewhere between house and techno, with a healthy dose of darkness, swing and funk.

Mark has proven himself as a versatile DJ, being equally comfortable playing deep morning sets as well as peak time slots. He has performed all over the world at clubs such as Fabric, Panorama Bar, Watergate, Rex, Space, Lux and The Arches to name just a few, as well as the festivals T In The Park, Rockness, BPM, Fusion, Portugal’s BOOM and Free Rotation.

Next up for Mark is a re-issue of two of his most famous bassline-heavy tracks to date - Trojan and Sin City plus a new Juno bass inspired slab of techno funk. 'Bang Bang,' which we premiere today.

After collaborating on exclusive tracks for the label‘s lovingly-acidic ‚Forward To The Past‘ series, Dutch duo TJ Kong &amp; Modular K prepare to drop their debut full-length, 'Dream Cargoes‘ on Poker Flat.

Having been friends and colleagues in the Dutch electronic scene for well over a decade, the talented pair have so much experience in working on different studio projects, and now come together in this glorious full-length exploration of their vision of house and techno today. 

Swathed in lush chords, analog warmth, wandering basslines and classic vintage textures, 'Dream Cargoes‘ looks towards a brighter future over 10 fully considered, expansive tracks, while respectfully paying homage to the past. Playing through as a true electronic album should, with expertly segued transitions between its moods, we are guided from the bright and airy 'Chronopolis‘, with its futuristic synths shining through with great positive vibes, through to the dubby soundscapes of the masterful 'Dream cargoes‘, before being totally ensnared in the multi-timbal journey.

Melody and harmony combine with crisp classic beats as the pair travel through the full electronic spectrum, showing off their talent for arrangements and heartfelt, emotional . 'End-game‘ sees them take on urgent, peak time electronic vibes - freaking and peaking over almost 10 minutes, while some wonderfully constructed downtempo moments pace things out in 'Now wakes the sea‘. The playful ‚'Studio 5, the stars‘, features dramatic strings and wandering bass lines, in powerful contrast to tracks like the edgy Dutch electro of 'Memories of the space age‘, or the captivating final track, 'Now: zero‘, that shimmers around a post-rave groove leading us gently up and then down as the album builds to a close.



The pair are obviously keen archivists of the classic sound of House and Techno, yet the high-end studio lustre, amorous synth work and attention to detail all attest to their desire to continue to stand out well into the future too. Showing their true experience, vision and production expertise in abundance, TJ Kong &amp; Modular K are here to stay with 'Dream Cargoes‘.

Following up from our Blondes remix, here's another slab of 'Ice house'. 

Something a little deeper, this remix was actually made when London was under a deep blanket of snow, inspiring us to do something a little icy! Bit of an experiment, wanted something that was deep and ambient but also worked on a peak time floor.
