“Tome of Stars” is a 100 sonnet journey, equal parts art, therapy journal, and exorcism, both a celebration and an elegy, a single narrative arc tracing the birth and death of a relationship. The sixth and final section of “Tome of Stars”, “Scripture”, leaves narrative behind to consecrate the poet’s enduring, unrequited love as sacred text. Comprising nine sonnets, it transforms the terminal condition of quixotosis (a delusional devotion stripped of belief in reciprocity) into liturgy, adopting the voice and cadence of timeless religious writing.

“Misapprehension” explores the human tendency to distort and misunderstand ultimate truths through the lens of cultural biases and our transient, fragmented memory. The sonnet juxtaposes the universality of celestial worship across civilizations with the failure to grasp the essence of the divine, as humanity replaces truth, or even realization of lack of knowledge, with fragmented symbols and idols. It laments how humanity’s reverence for the heavens, seen through a spectrum of names and traditions, becomes clouded by selfish, personal desire and the misunderstanding that is the inevitable product of such distortion. Here the Stargirl is a remote figure for the most part, the transcendental experience of cosmic idealization. Of course, it also paints a personal picture of the poet's poor understanding of his beloved and his failures.

Long eons lulled through endless reverie.

In slumber, stumbling, truth melts through our hands,
The Stargirl’s words confused with fantasy,
Her treasures spoiled and spilling to the sands,
Salvation mislaid through eternity.

The Vedics loved the Mansion Revati,
The Fertile Crescent, Ishtar, Astarteh.
The Mother of the Stars sang Māori;
The Mayans, Aztecs, Slavs—a full array.

The names cease not; the idols each a lie,
Warped hopes and lusts as we longed for the sky.
