"Normally I know that high expectations kill the vibe, so I always try to walk my way open minded and don’t expect anything special from the future, but this time I couldn’t help it. When the Robot told me that she wanted me to play the sunrise set and that we will be connected with the Mayan Warrior soundsystem, I could feel it already in Berlin a full three weeks before… Then when I finally took the bus over to Robot Heart it was even better than in my craziest expectations. This gig was by far the most emotional gig I have ever played. All I can say is thank you, I am even more happy now to be born on this weird planet which can be really beautiful sometimes, when you give it  chance to be free. Thank you you for dancing with me and giving me so much Love. So here is my try to give something back.

The human body is the most highly engineered object in existence, a machine of uncountable parts and unfathomable function. Its workings have served as inspiration for all of humanity's greatest inventions. This work is an homage to the two most amazing mechanisms in that machine: the human eye and hand. The head is a 16 foot camera obscura demonstrating the ray optics principals underlying the spherical lensed eye humans posses and the hands are actuated mimicking the tendons and bones of the body. Together they represent what separates life from the rest of the universe, the ability to observe the world around us and manifest change in that world.

All the online streaming services play music back at roughly -14 LUFS, so that’s the level we should aim for when we’re mastering, right ? Wrong.

That may sound strange, given how much we’ve talked about online loudness over the years - but we’re serious. "Devil’s Den" was Rancido’s debut on Connaisseur, which we released more or less exactly two years ago. The rather successful EP had a strong Afro-House appeal and was a favourite of many DJs. The title track has now even been licensed for the 100th episode of the Fabric mix series, an anniversary we are very proud to be part of. 

For his follow-up release, the Rotterdam resident has teamed up with up and coming Italo-Albanian producer and DJ &lez, with whom he had worked on a big pile of tracks. The result is a brilliant melange of the musical styles of both talents. All tracks are highly functional, but still tell a great story.  For their "After Earth EP" we picked four stunning tunes, proper club material, some for the peak-time, others more for the early morning hours and the afterparty, but all capable of creating mayhem on the dance floor.

Dear people,

we decided to publish the set from Cologne. The set is not very good in terms of mixing. That annoys me most of us, but I won't shorten or cut anything out because I don't think I'm a DJ who would ever think of pressing the sync-button. I am not perfect as we all cannot be perfect. In addition, the monitor-boxes could not be operated at full power because there were residents around and you know that the most important thing about our music is the loud volume. "Calma Calma" dear music-police!
It is also not easy to play music these days as the most important thing is missing from such streams - which is You. You as a crowd. I miss your smile, your closed eyes dancing and now and then the little tear. Everything I see in front of me is nothing. This is strange and not complete for me.
I am very grateful for all the feedback from around the world. That left me very speechless here in little Weimar. Think of your clubs, your festivals, your newspapers, your labels, your record stores, your DJs and your musicians. They all gave and give you the food (music).
