This mix is from DJ LOkari, aka Elgin Bokari Smith. Elgin is a Chicago based DJ, Activist, Visual and Performing Artist from St. Louis, Missouri. He has shared stages with the likes of Bone Thugs and Harmony, Ruby Ibarra, The Terra Godz, Saba, Da Brat, Clark Airlines, Mega Ran, Bop Alloy, No Name Gypsy, DJ Esco, Young Chop, Lil Crazed, Rebel Diaz, Twista, and Chingy… just to name a few. Elgin also gives back to his community as a Teaching Artist, Program Director of Free Write Arts & Literacy, and President of the activist and artist collective, Elephant Rebellion. Elgin also is the co creator of Pocket Con the comic book convention that celebrates characters of color.

Rae Chardonnay Taylor is a DJ, Arts Administrator and events producer based in Chicago dedicated to encouraging a life of open-minded learning and expression. She began DJing in 2010 and has since held residencies at prominent venues in Chicago including the late Double Door, The Promontory and Soho House. She has opened for acts such as Janelle Monae, Jamila Woods, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Madison McFerrin, Megan Thee Stallion, OSHUN, Tiffany Gouche, CeCe Peniston, J Rocc, Just Blaze, Little Dragon, Big Freedia, G Herbo and many others. 

As an arts manager, she's been involved in programming at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Stony Island Arts Bank, School of the Art Institute and various arts organizations. She is the Founder of Black Eutopia, a series of segmented programming intended to cultivate space for marginalized communities. She is also a co-founder of the award winning Party Noire.  She was recently noted as one of Chicago’s Top 5 DJ’s by NPR, and Chicago’s Best DJ by the Chicago Reader.

Elgin Bokari T. Smith aka L O Kari is an Uptown Chicago Dj, Activist, Visual and Performing Artist from St Louis Missouri. Born in 87 L O Kari was heavily influenced by the soulful sounds of RnB, Jazz, Hip Hop, Gospel and alternative rock. While attending Central Visual and Performing Arts High School in St. Louis Missouri Elgin discovered he had an ear for music and begun creating music on Piano and guitar while added a unique flavor. Now known as L O Kari, Elgin has performed in and out of state ranging from New York, St. Louis, Ohio, Seattle, South Korea, Japan, and all over the Chicago land area. Has shared stages with the likes of Bone Thugs and Harmony, Ruby ibarra, The Terra Godz, Saba, Da Brat, Clark Airlines, Mega Ran, Bop Alloy, No Name Gypsy, DJ Esco, Young Chop, Lil Crazed, Rebel Diaz, Twista, Chingy just to name a few.     

L O Kari style is very smooth and transformative. Blending mixes of Hip hop, RnB, to Electronic, Trap and EDM.  Some of his influences include, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Nujabes, Linkin Park, Joe Hisaishi, LORN, and Prince. What most notable about his style his ability to adapt to the vibe of the audience he's serving. Elgin also give back to his community as a Teaching Artist, and President of activist, artist collective Elephant Rebellion.
