I’ve been thinking about this performance for a long time, wondering how I can create an opening that truly resonates with the audience in Taitung. As someone who left my hometown 14 years ago, every time I board the South-Link Railway back to Taitung and hear the announcement, “Arriving at Taitung Station,” I know—I’m home. The four-hour train journey is long and exhausting; when a typhoon hits, the railway is damaged, and I have to transfer to a shuttle, which makes the trip even rougher. During peak tourist seasons, getting a ticket is nearly impossible. Yet, no matter how challenging the journey, my feeling of returning home has never changed.

With this in mind, I thought of using the railway arrival chime as my opening—a symbol of my homecoming!
