Goblins On Drugs

This is an early bass tune. I had only been writing/recording/playing/singing for about 6 months when this tune happened. My beau at the time called it my "bass symphony". Extra, given that it's essentially a punk song, at least nearly as punk as I ever get... which is actually pretty true to the MO. Anyhow, I'm especially chuffed about this tune as I believe everything about it has stood the test of time. Certainly not something I can say about all of my earliest works! This tune has aged well, & I'm happy to have such a clean tape recording mix of it to work with. This take has pretty much stayed as it was, ripped from the cassette mix o' the moment that I harvested it from. With 4-track tape recording, you have to mix live, & I spent a lot of time doing different mixes & learning what worked best.

it seems kind of empty at first, and it's old, and I recognize it, but then the layers keep adding up so I keep getting dizzy; everyone is moving around and I want to understand something that is still, but I can't help it and start moving, too, until we're all just writhing, just writhing and writhing with no aim, and then the fire splits open and I realize there really was a point all along, and here it is: the thing moves up and I think "oh my gosh" and the air drips with the flaming flakes of embers of paper that's alive and thinking also "oh my gosh" and everyone smiles and I laugh but then time curls up and something inside me is booming like a grave siren made of metal but I laugh and laugh

Interpretation Of Frogs

In 2018 i  was part of a competition to remix broken orchestral instruments... needless to say i didnt win but it top fun.... More info below from the found sound nation website. Also i now have the library of all the samples if any one wants them let me know and I will send them - got everything from micro second one pitch solo instruments through to ensembles lasting for half a minute also ........

Found Sound Nation, in collaboration with Symphony for a Broken Orchestra, has meticulously recorded the sounds of over 800 of broken instruments in an effort to inspire the public to ‘adopt’ these instruments and raise funds to repair and return them to public schools throughout Philadelphia. For these recording sessions, we invited great musicians from around Philadelphia to improvise on damaged horns, flattened fiddles, splintered double bases, padless saxophones, leaky clarinets, and busted-up snares and created a sample library of hundreds of ‘wounded’ but magnificently unique instruments.
