window in Athens, tenor saxophone, piano, tape noise, synths. Spoken voice: Natassa.

Circles is inspired by a stanza of the poem Paesaggio [IV] by Cesare Pavese.

We are not missing but a sea that will shine with strength
and flood the beach in a monotonous rhythm.
Over the sea trees are not protruding, leaves are not moving;
when it rains on the sea, every raindrop is being lost,
like the wind on those hills, that searches the leaves
and doesn’t find other than stones. In the dawn, there is an instant:
on the ground the black shapes are being drawn
and the deep red spots. Then returns the silence.

Processing three MachFive instances of cello pizzicato ostinato loops from my library Ambient Strings - each loop playing a different note - with 2CAudio's Kaleidoscope, one instance on each cello track with different chordal tuning, and one instance on a Bus for droning reverb-like ambience in Eb, B2 reverb added on a Bus, some Endless Series applied to high frequency band in the mddle of the track, some Uhbik flanging at the very end.

Peaceful and contemplative music to commemorate the men who lost their lives in the Battle of the Somme 100 years ago this year, in pursuit of freedom. The music is imbued with the interval of a major fifth derived from the beginning of the 'Last Post'. The Last Post music is synonymous with the war as it has been played at military funerals since the end of WW1 and is played as a daily homage at the Menin gate in France. A final salute to the fallen.
