My thoughts while composing this arrangement were scattered. The bell pad and its accompaniment serve to set a fantastical, faraway mood. The church organ intervening in the middle section brings a certain chill down the listener's spine, reminding us of the fearsome mansion and its vampire owner. The outro, made with gameboy chiptune, gives us a goodbye filled with melancholy. The bass possesses a feedback effect, and its equalization brings forth a bit of noise, all of it giving its saw vawe even more strength. Silver Maid's Ethereal Reverence hopes to achieve the impressions of dignity, awe, fantasy, and perhaps melancholy and solitude...

This arrangement uses violins for the melody and bells and synthesizers for the accompaniment. At first, I hoped to use a guitar for the melody, but my sound design efforts failed. Instead, I aimed to reproduce the atmosphere felt in Granat by Drop, or that of the instrumental of It's only the Fairy Tale by Kajiura Yuki.
Candid Friend was composed by ZUN as Nitori's theme in Mountain of Faith, a Touhou Project game.

L'image invoquée est la plénitude et la sérénité du crépuscule, symbole de la fin de la journée, du labeur, de l'effort d'avoir vécu. Objet poétique — que de lignes m'a-t-il inspiré — s'il en est, universel et glorieux, éternel. Les nuances des tons sont tant de manières de vivre la vie en présence d'un spectacle final.
Anecdote intéressante, le kathakali est un spectacle théâtral indien qui met en scène la frontière entre le jour et la nuit, et cette ambiguïté du crépuscule. En Inde, un spectacle peut durer toute la nuit, la notion de temps est nettement moins régulée qu'en Occident depuis la métrique des secondes, minutes et heures qui accélèrent la vie. Ceci résonne peut-être avec la durée, et la répétition monotone d'une des phrases de la composition.
