Catching Up in the Archive is a major exhibition by artist Mariana Lanari showcasing the evolving infrastructure of de Appel Archive. Displaying more than 16 000 objects in de Appel’s Aula and launching an interactive online environment, Catching Up in the Archive stages unprecedented activations, public gatherings, ear-opening encounters, and ‘moving’ situations with special guests and curious passers-by.

As a first intervention Loma Doom was asked to research the audio-archive. Performed on April 10th 2022 for a live audience, the result is uploaded here: a fragmented collage of the work and lectures of female artists that have collaborated with De Appel throughout its history. 

Catching Up In The Audio Archive features work by Barbara Kruger, Cosima von Bremen, Moniek Toebosch, Ann Bean and the Box Gamelan Ensemble, Gina Pane and Marina Abramovic.

As this enters a new cycle for the show, I decided to draw a tarot card for today and it gave me The High Priestess.

She represents the unknown, mystery, intuition, spiritual knowledge, and the subconscious mind. The crescent moon symbolizes her connection with the divine feminine and the natural cycles of the moon.

A perfect fit for my bi-monthly show layering field recordings, avant-garde compositions and some percussion.

The kind people of @StampTheWax asked me to be part of their Diggers Directory mix series in April of 2018. I recorded the mix on a Monday morning at the Red Light Radio studio and works its way from ambient to a more percussive gloomy sound. It features records that I have been listening to recently and I added some contemporary Dutch sounds into the mix like for instance @Terekke, @JobSifre, @Upsammy and Moon&Sun, as well as a 1976 track by artists Lawrence Weiner and Coosje van Bruggen. The Stamp The Wax mix is named after a sentence from  that amazing record; ‘Within the context of gains and losses (Nothing to Loose)’.
