Growing up in the Peak District, just a stones throw from the post-industrial city of Sheffield, Lonan found he had time for the wind swept hills of the Peaks while taking cultural influences from the urban metropolis to his East. In his early years, hip hop pioneers such as DJ Krush, DJ Cam and The Pharcyde inspired him to develop his own unique style of turntablism. The concrete painted city became the social backdrop to his love of skateboarding, skating with the likes of Sumo, The Story Store and Wisdom, a street scene of which he is still a part of. However, the tranquil nature of the Peaks always held weight with Lonan and his love of climbing is a stark contrast to the urban sport of skateboarding. He admits his appreciation for exploring mountainous areas has made him calmer and opened a new outlook to the world around him. This malaise of influence seems to have had an effect on his production style, borrowing strong drum rhythms from his DJ sets and layering them with outside recordings and melodics with a sense of timeless natural longevity.
