A Peaceful Place I'd Like To Be - Megs McCarthy (Improv)(Mastered by Mr Electrosketch)

We hope you will enjoy our new song “Waiting”, may it give you all some comfort and relaxation and peace in your heart and mind.
After working together on "Brave Angel", Alan Johnson gave this composition to John, and gave him full freedom to convert it into a  orchestral song, John started to rebuild the song and make it longer with a different bridge, then John and Matt started to create all harmonies and rearrange it so they could fit with all other instruments into an orchestral movement.

The title “Waiting” can be explained in so many different ways, as it also has more meanings to us then you might expect, we all do a lot of “Waiting” in our lives.

By the meaning “Waiting for You” , with the upcoming holidays for sure many people have to wait for their loved ones to come home on time for Christmas eve, so the holidays can be celebrated together, especially when people have to come from far, and have to catch a bus, train and airplane in time to go home.
As many movies were made with this subject as theme, we can all name lot’s of titles of movies which of course will be broadcasted as well during the holidays, and most of the time there’s a happy ending and everybody is happy, but not in all cases, as many of you may have experienced as well.

And “Waiting” while you’re in the hospital like many of our friends, they need to wait for tests or surgery, or they are recovering from an illness, and they are “Waiting” to be cured till they finally can go HOME
.
Everybody has their own experience of “Waiting”, some are positive, some are negative as well.
We tried to express our own experiences, feelings and thoughts that we couldn’t say in words, so we say it with music, as we both and our loved ones also had and still have their “Waiting” moments.

“All instruments are carefully layered accompanying the piano melody, each part gives a different emotion” this remark was given while I was finishing this song in the studio, to us this is what we hope this song would do to and for you all as well. 

This way we also want to wish all the best to Hemmo Riihelä, Megan McCarthy and Ralf, Melanie and Florian Reichelt and all other friends and listeners we haven’t mentioned, all the best and speedy recovery, may God be with you all, and may the spirit and joy of Christmas be present in your heart, because we believe in spirit we’re all together one way or the other.

To everybody in the world, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and all the best wishes for 2016.

Forever Blue

Welcome to our new song “Soulmate” another experimental piece John and Oliver composed.
While John was with Oliver they experimented with their specific way of playing and creating harmonies, John showed Oliver some of his weird chords, and they both kept playing (practicing) till a new idea came out, they immediately called it “Soulmate”, and Oliver wanted to put drums in it for the rhythm, then John suggested to let cello’s create the rhythm of the song, that was exactly what Oliver wanted to learn anyway, so they kept on playing and changing till they were both satisfied, finally they ended up in the kitchen with the laptop, listening over and over again and discussing what needed to be changed, writing down all ideas what John needed to change / add for the harmonies in the studio.

They decided to make a premix, and request Colin to add drum, bass and guitars to it, and he did it splendidly.
In the end-mix (back in Holland), John tried to create 3 different moments (emotions) within this song.

The first part (0:00 -1:30) the search for your “soul mate”, the cello’s are playing the struggle we go through to find our soul mate (which is hard as everybody knows), and the strings and bass only accompanying the piano and cello’s.

The second part (1:30 – 3:00) the full orchestra, drum, bass and guitar take over (you found your soul mate) the overwhelming feeling (happiness) a person is in when that happens, we tried to let the instruments express that feeling, also John changed the cello’s slightly (higher tempo) so they fit better with the drums.

The third part (3:00 till the end) all instruments are in full harmony and played exactly in the right tempo, you’ve accomplished your goal in Life, both “soul mates” found their way of living together.
As said before this was an experiment, to see what we could accomplish with instruments and creating harmonies, to build up a song, we all hope you’ll enjoy this song, and we are looking forward to your reaction.

John Styles, Oliver Papke & Colin Powell - Soulmate

A field recording of a vintage John Deere tractor from the 1930s. The recording consists of the tractor starting up, idling and then powering down. Recorded from a few different perspectives and presented as one mix of these various recordings. 

The tractor was purchased by a friend's great-grandfather in the 1950's and has been part of the family ever since; it now belongs to her father.
