This is our version of Mr Sandman by The Chordettes and also The Puppini Sisters. It features three and four part close harmony and was quite a difficult piece to pull off. Mr Sandman

After 7 months without recording anything, this is my first go at getting back in the saddle. This is my version of Dancing With Tears In My Eyes by Ultravox. I think my voice is getting higher pitched as when this song came out in 1984 I could never sing it. I know... you are saying I still can't sing it now :) Oh well I enjoyed myself doing this.

Hi, Well we decided to give this a go as it was a song in French, so would go well on the Foreign Bodies Album and also as we have not done much opera before. It certainly was a tough one to do, both from the point of singing it and also from trying to get the music to work. We used Garritan Personal Orchestra and Magnus Choir VSTis to layer the sounds over a midi track. Toreador Song

Hi, This is our version of Mine for Life by 80's Synth Pop band Ultravox. I really enjoyed playing guitar on this track and Simon did a wonderful job of taking all those different elements and mixing it down into the version here. We hope you like it.

Mine For Life

I wanted to record another track where I could play my mandolin and I had heard this song previously and thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to record this song which features a mandolin. It is a lovely song and I hope you like my version of it.

Green Fields Of France

I thought it might be fun to take a very twee song and see if I could make it a bit more 'metal'. So this is my 'heavier' version of "I Think We're Alone Now" by Tiffany. I had a bit of a giggle doing it, but the guitar solo wasn't easy that's for sure!

Well this is just a short song but blimey it is a doozy. Really high vocals, insane bass line and crazy guitar chords made with alternate voicings to normal. It is an absolute rock classic though so I really wanted to give it a go and here is the result. I hope you like it.

This is my version of Carillion which is a lovely guitar piece originally recorded in 1979 by supergroup Sky. I hope you like my version of this track.

We hope you like our version of Ça Plane Pour Moi, originally recorded by the Belgian singer Plastic Bertrand. This song is part of our Foreign Bodies collection where we are singing songs all in a foreign language. This song was particularly hard to do as it is sung so fast. But for better or for worse here it is. Please let us know if you think we managed to make some sense of the lyrics of if it is all just gobbledygook!

Dukes Of Hazzard Theme (Good Ol' Boys)

This is another solo project of mine. This is my version of 'Running Up That Hill' by Kate Bush.
I wanted to make it a bit different so I replaced the lead synth part with a guitar part playing a "Wah Wah" sound. I also tried to make the track a little bit more guitar based than the original version. The backing vocals we fun to do, but hard to work out what all the separate pieces and harmonies were.

Running Up That Hill

This is a very special moment for us. We have reached 30,000 plays on SoundCloud! So in celebration of this we recorded a song which we feel sums up how we feel at this moment, "Walking on Sunshine". Never in a million years did we think that our songs would get anywhere near 30,000 plays, we thought we might be lucky to get 100!
We want to thank all our followers for listening in and hopefully enjoying the songs we record. Hi all,
This is the second song from our new album, "Drop 'Em and Cough". This song is a cover of "Battleship Chains" by the Georgia Satellites. I don't think this is a very well known song, but I liked it as it has some unusual lyrics for the chorus, "You've got me tied up in battleship chains, 50 foot long and a two tonne anchor"! They don't write them like that anymore. Another thing which attracted me to this song is that it only has two chords in it. That is the first time I have played a song like that.
Anyway I hope you enjoy listening to it.

Bad Moon Rising

After six months with not recording a song, due to having to pack up my guitars and studio equipment for a house move, this is our first song now we are back in action. This is our little bit silly version of Ballroom Blitz by Sweet. We hope you like it! Boy is it good to be back playing and recording again.

To Cut A Long Story Short

This is a very different version of 'Mrs Robinson' originally by Simon and Garfunkel. This version is more like the cover by the Lemonheads but it is still different to that too. I had so much fun recording this especially at the end when it all goes a bit mad! That was great fun to really let loose on the guitar. Hope you enjoy it.

U Can't Touch This

This is our take on the Alter Bridge Song 'In Loving Memory'. We have changed this about quite a bit from the original version. We have replaced the main theme guitar with piano and added a guitar solo which was not in the Alter Bridge version.
This was a very hard song for me to sing and really pushed me to the limits of my abilities and I really did give this my everything and I hope you will get a sense of that from this recording.

Who are Loob? We are Richard and Simon, a couple of guys who used to be in a band a long while ago and are now a pair of old duffers who like to get together once a week to play and record cover versions of some of our favourite songs. 
One of our aims, apart from having a good laugh, is to try to vary the style of songs we cover because we feel this keeps us fresh and also can take us in directions we wouldn't normally go, which in turn pushes us to better ourselves as musicians. When you listen to the tracks we have posted on this site I think you will agree that they are very varied, ranging form Slipknot to The Shadows, Green Day to Gangnam Style and quite a lot in between. 
Why Loob? Well you may be sorry you asked! When we first started doing this, some 25 years ago now, we felt we needed to call ourselves something other than just Rich and Si. So we set about trying to find a name for ourselves. After many attempts we were no closer to a solution. The problem was that we felt any name we should have should capture the true essence of what we were about, which is basically, to put it bluntly, two blokes messing about having a good laugh creating a load of old bollocks, and that is when we hit on it... Load Of Old Bollocks, use those initials and you get L.O.O.B. and that sums us up perfectly! So that's how we came to settle on the name Loob!

All the songs are created for our own personal enjoyment only, but we thought we would upload some of our tracks to SoundCloud so we can send links to our mates so they can here what we have been up to. We would welcome any comments.
