I’ve always wanted to write a song about the greatness of God’s love but well… I never knew where to begin. But one day; I read Ephesians 3:18 “Then you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to comprehend the length and width and height and depth of His love” and the line “so deep, so wide, so vast and high, is your great love for me” suddenly appeared in my head fitting into the melody perfectly. I remembered once, during Christian fellowship, we were asked to rank on a scale of 1-10 how much we felt God loved us that week. I initially said hmm maybe 7, because I had been relatively good; I had done my quiet time every day and also woke up early to go for worship practice that Sunday.

But I was wrong.

At the end of the Bible study I was reminded once again that God’s love is steadfast and unchanging, it doesn’t depend on how good (or bad) I’ve been; his love for us is as strong and as powerful as the day he sent his son to the cross to die for our sins.

And thus this song. :)

I wrote the chorus of this song in 2017, randomly one night on a long bus ride home and never knew what to do with it. But a while ago, the verses came to me and it suddenly clicked; wondering if we are worthy and doubting if God still loves us after all the wrong we’ve done is a very human thing. And yet what’s truly so amazing about God’s grace is that through every moment of doubt He assures us that we are preciously saved and loved more than we can ever comprehend. Romans 5:8 says “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” We did absolutely nothing to deserve this precious gift of grace but it was freely given nonetheless. 

And that’s something I hope I will never forget :)
