This is the "biggest" sounding piece that I ever did with the Wavestation. From 1998, this is "All In". I think it might be the only track I've done where both hands had to stay on the keyboard at all times in order to keep things going. Varying the pressure would add or subtract wave sequences, which can lead to subtle or dramatic changes (I chose the latter here). 😁

This was all done in one take, with only a little bit of editing done later on when it was transferred to digital. I don't think I could reproduce it if I wanted to. And if somehow I could, I'd choose not to and keep it just as it is. 🙏

All In

All In ꩜ (Korg Wavestation EX Synthesizer, Recorded to Tape in 1998)

A little experiment I did just last week. I fed one of my little hardware sequencers into the EX7, but while the arpeggiator was engaged. It was predictably random (if that's a thing)! There are Fits and Starts, and then a really nice flourish once in a while, several times in fact, because it was so interesting to hear amongst the fun kind of chaos. #SoundCloud ☁️

Here's a wild experiment with my Washburn bass put through my Zoom effects unit. The sound is all chopped up, and I love the fact that it's difficult to tell exactly what instrument is being used. #SoundCloud ☁️

Bounce ༘⋆ (Washburn Bass Guitar + Zoom multi effects, Recorded January 2025)

This is an upbeat and completely improvised little piece from 2006, "Almost Lost", with the emphasis on the Almost part. I love putting part of the intro ... into the outro, and this time it really worked well IMO. All Yamaha great again here, DX7II D and TG300 mixed with the crunchy sounding RY10 drum machine. I bought, used, sold, sometimes bought again, all kinds of gear. What's strange is that some of the stuff I used quite a bit, appears nowhere in any of the music that I saved. Weird! 

The title came from this period of time being a hard one, but I still persevered and stayed on the grassy side of the Earth. In the end, not lost at all.

Almost Lost

Almost Lost ᝰ (Yamaha DX7II D + Yamaha RY10 + Yamaha TG300, Recorded 2006)

Remember when the Yamaha DX7 took over the world? Well, not the entire world, but the world of music for sure. And all kinds of music, not just electronic music. Entire albums had nothing but the DX7 and it's module cousins + various sequencers on them. Oh, and I DARE you to find a 1984-onward Phil Collins ballad without the DX7 sound on it! You will not succeed. 😄 It's a wonderful instrument, but it did get a bit overused at the time. Still, I love the sound, which is why you'll hear it on a lot of my older pieces. 

This isn't a DX7, though I did have a later model, the DX7 IID at one time. It's a sample of a DX on my EX7, and just like the DX it's very metallic / bell sounding. It does sound a bit like mid to late 80's smooth Jazz / Jazz Fusion. There's a Bob James (best known for the theme to "Taxi") album from the mid-80's that I haven't heard in forever ... yet it still inspired this. Here's "DXter". 🙏

DXter ᴅ🇽 (Yamaha EX7 Synthesizer, Recorded September 2025)

This is more Sound Effects than music, but it's kinda cool. The crashing / scraping / hitting effects are all Yamaha EX7 that I recorded several months ago. I added some spacey sounds to it with Pro-53, a Prophet 5 soft synth from Native Instruments.

An experimental Ambient Guitar piece from 2022. Lots of effects of course, with the PSS-460 analog percussion sounds added in 2025. Stuff like this was never intended to be heard by anyone, but what the Hell, right? I've enjoyed posting the stuff that I think isn't half bad, so let's throw in some weirdness too.  #SoundCloud ☁️

Ultralight

Ultralight 𓂃𓂃 (Electric Guitar + a Whole Lotta Pedals + Yamaha PSS-460, Recorded in 2022).

This piece just felt like time travel to me. Not the Sci-fi kind, but the real kind, in real time, in real life. We all have more experience with that now than we used to. The past few years have flown on by, I suppose you could say at the speed of Life. It's hard to feel that sometimes, but please always remember, that we are the lucky ones. 

And so I titled this "Life-Timed",  and it was improvised and recorded earlier this year, I believe it was in July, one of my favorite times of any year. It was a completely accidental gift to my ears, and maybe yours too. I hope you like it. 💙
