Loop are excited to welcome electronic musician Zuke - aka Ed Zuccollo to the family with the release of his new single ‘Voyager’. The Wellington-based artist has built a cult-following in the underground electronic scene for his dynamic hybrid live/DJ sets and an ability to tell a story through music. The track is the first single taken from his upcoming debut album.

The single ‘Voyager’ is named after the twin NASA space probes launched in 1977 to explore the outer solar system. Onboard those crafts is a “Golden Record”, various greetings and recordings that tell the story of our planet, a message in a bottle tossed into the cosmic ocean. ‘Voyager’ includes the greeting “hello from the children of planet earth” - serving as an intro to the celestial sound that is Zuke.

Densely layered, uplifting and lush with big synth sounds, ‘Voyager’ showcases Zuke’s unique production style, combining vintage synths and analogue equipment. The release includes the Downtempo/Organic House remix by Sanoi & Zuke, which highlights the emotive elements of the original melody.

‘Voyager’ is the first single from Zuke’s his long awaited debut album, set for release late 2024. Elements of jungle, dubstep, downtempo, house, and ambient field recordings fuse together, creating a blend of melodic beauty and deep bass with a human touch. Over the next few months, Loop will release a series of singles, remixes, and alternate versions, showcasing the diversity of this artist.

Voyager

Hyperion was a Greek Titan, son of Earth and Sky, father of Sun, Moon and the Dawn. My understanding of mythology represents mystery, wonder and awe of natural phenomena but also our desire to understand, and in doing so we tell very human stories which connect us in shared understanding, to each other and also to nature. These stories are also like time capsules into the minds of humans past. 
I am a big fan of layering light and dark together. The breakbeats, deep bass and reeses converging together in the second drop with emotive piano chords really do that for me. The track ended up this spacious, deep quarter-time thing with a decent jungle influence. The moment the breakbeats enter is this kind of bridge section where the bass switches up to 808s and there are all these fragments of percussion and other layered breaks in there. That section is really introducing the jungle element, and is the most ‘jungle’ part of the album, a bit of a nod to my jungle influence.

Hyperion

Zuke is the electronic project from producer & synth-wizard, Ed Zuccollo. His anticipated debut album, Come Closer, will be released this December. Ed Zuccollo has honed his skills as a live musician while immersed in the vibrant music scene of New Zealand’s capital city of Wellington. Under his alias Zuke, his genre-fluid, instrumental productions have been extensively road-tested on festival sound systems across the country.

Described as “an exploratory journey into the physicality of deep bass, with a taste for the cinematic”, Come Closer is a kaleidoscope of sounds, textures, rhythms and moods. Elements of jungle, dubstep, downtempo, house, and environmental field recordings fuse together, creating a dynamic blend of melodic beauty and powerful bass.

DAWSON is the project of Aotearoa/New Zealand producer Ethan Jupe. Drawing heavy inspiration from the likes of hometown heroes Chaos In The CBD, DAWSON's productions combine his romantic understanding of jazz with bouncy, organic house percussions.

'Secrets' is DAWSON's third single, a collaboration with Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland-based saxophonist & flautist Nathan Haines.

The release sees the pair working together on something highly emotive, earnest and perhaps most importantly, incredibly groovy. The single delivers in spades what DAWSON clearly credits to his inspirations, but is in itself an extremely welcome addition to that same musical tapestry.

Sanoi announces the release of his long-awaited new album Augenblick, preceded by the final single ‘When You Ready’. Out early December, the album captures a 19-track exploration in Sanoi’s own house-inspired take of downtempo, ambient and lo-fi beats.

‘When You Are Ready’ blends emotional depth with cinematic tension, with a soft, ethereal female vocal which drifts through spacious ambient textures. Anchored by dark, pulsing electronic drums, the track unfolds as synths rise toward a haunting climax - a moment suspended between melancholy and release.
