Dual MFXs processing a Castle chord > Digi-PCM Echo > Modulating Panner for stereo auto pan + filtering. 

A chord voice from Akemie’s Castle is run directly into the left MFX and made stereo with short modulated delays from the Digi-PCM Echo. The stereo output is run into the right MFX for further processing through the Modulating Panner. Using stereo pan mode, the 2 sides are swapped back and forth, creating a lively movement. (Rotate device to hear!) The recently added stereo filter is then engaged and set to low pass, with the cutoff manually adjusted, then modulated by an output from Pam.

First finding his feet in Aberdeen, Scotland, as a resident of Jungle collective “Flow”, and since having gone on to play shows across Scotland, London & Berlin, this masked selector knows how to keep your feet moving. As seen through his production, DJ Bastard combines inspirations from electro, booty, footwork, jungle and hardcore into his own sound - with a particular emphasis on tracks that bring maximum energy to the dancefloor.

Bei Acidfinky gibt es nur eine einzige Devise und die lautet: Bass! Um die tiefsten der tiefen Frequenzen herum schüttelt sie Woche um Woche Sets aus dem Ärmel, die wie das Hörbuch über das Lexikon der elektronischen Musik klingen. Das macht sie in ihrer eigenen Radioshow, bei Clubnächten in der Paloma Bar und Golden Pudel oder Showcases mit ihrem FLINTA-Kollektiv BLVSH. Acidfinky ist Teil der neuen Generation, die nach dem Corona-Gap lautstark und kreativ ihren Anspruch in der Clubkultur geltend machen, und Antwort auf jene Techno-Boomer, die in den jungen Leuten nur buntes TikTok-Marketing und ein Untergang des DJ-Handwerks wähnen. Wir haben mit der Newcomerin über ihre ersten Schritte an den Decks, ihr eigenes Label und emsiges Wühlen in Plattenkisten gesprochen.

Here's the recorded audio from the live stream I made at @nc248radio last Friday 16th of June in Gijón. Over one hour of dubby and intense heavy bass 160bpm+ tunes!

After heavy-duty releases on self-administered imprints Low End Activism and Sneaker Social Club, as well as London’s beloved graffiti-laden mutant-bass stronghold Seagrave (RIP), the almighty Low End Activist makes a welcome debut with the ESP Institute. No stranger to mining distant regions the hardcore continuum and the residue of soundsystem culture at large, his relentless traversing and assembling of U.K.-specific rhythms demonstrates there is no end in sight when it comes to evolving the region’s musical gene pool. The 5-track 'Gossip Is The Devil’s Radio' strings together a smear of dystopian instrumentation—ghostly pads wrapped in melancholy, percussion that marries bleep with low resolution shrapnel, and vocal fragments that resemble a control tower’s two-way radio on the fritz—all imperfectly focused through a damaged lens of dancehall. We’re drawn to a dull moan that pervades throughout the record, reminiscent of the nihilistic moments in Abigail Meade’s score to 'Full Metal Jacket' where the sonics resemble a slow churn of molten steel occasionally punctuated and pierced by crystalline shards. The depth between the bone dry immediate foreground and distant wet background creates an exquisite sense of longing which isn’t inherently dark or menacing, but seductively bleak. As voyeurs, we may certainly appreciate the aesthetic LEA portrays, but we can’t fully comprehend the sense of escapism rooted within this music without having come of age in the damp and restless confines of England on the cusp of Thatcher’s abuse. Its a reminder that the light at the end of a tunnel, while it may be dim and grey, is still a light after-all, and the only way out is through.
