They are taking a deep dive into eclectic productions that will touch your mind and soul, combining laid-back beats with dreamy electronix, jazzy melodies and dusty drums. The groove that we instantly fell in love with when we heard their demo's for the first time. Expect a trip from lo-fi psychedelia to cosmic jazz vibes. Madelyn Byrd (they/them, b. 1992) is an educator, musician, DJ, and worldbuilding practitioner based in Berlin. Their creative and educational work implements decolonial, hydrofeminist and queer ecology to investigate possibilia and the “sympoietics” of co-becoming to promote synergistic social transformation beyond human-centred perspectives. Byrd fosters a deeply collaborative, interdisciplinary spirit to deconstruct and reconstruct the perceptual realm, weaving field recording, intricate sound design, spoken word, and somatics. Madelyn holds a Masters in Neuroaesthetics from Goldsmiths, where they researched the impact of collaborative imagination on measures of connection and hope in social praxis art. They teach critical theory + music production courses on sonic worldbuilding with Soundial. They are a current resident in Zurich University of the Art’s School of Commons (SoC), 2025 with collaborator Lou Croff Blake to develop their project, Chimera.

@slowfoam is Byrd’s all-encompassing, genre-defying music moniker. They create speculative post-human dialogues and para-worlds, sculpting a/biotic textures from electroacoustics, field recording, feedback, granulated synthesis, drones, and spoken word. Their playful sonic tapestries are spatially triggered and adapted to deep-listening environments, clubs, and everything in between. They have performed and toured extensively, including recent performances at Subbacultcha (NL), Cafe Oto (London), The Lab (San Francisco), Morse (Tokyo), and Morphine Raum (Berlin). Their discography has been published on Somewhere Press, Mappa, and Jungle Gym Records. Slowfoam is a former resident at Internet Public Radio, where they curated their monthly show, Our Tomorrow. Their work has yielded features on Bandcamp, Electronic Sound Mag, DJ Mag, First Impressions, Pitchfork, Boomkat, The Wire Magazine, and Futurism Restated.

This episode feels like traversing through all stages of sleep, from vivid and almost visceral memories of holidays in a rainy tent, walks through gigantic forests and dewy fields in a valley filled with morning mist, to deep transformative loops of thoughts, dark shifting feelings and desires close but out of grasp. All to wake up to soft voices, bird shrieks perhaps on a beach.

Thanya Iyer - "Always, Be Together"

Underneath the stark white light of the laboratory lamps, the mysterious organism writhed and twisted into obtuse and indistinct shapes. Everybody gathered round in awe as it began to sprout new features, strange abnormalities that grew and lengthened before their eyes. What it would morph into, nobody knew, but curiosity kept them firmly fixed on this unspecified life form. 

The next transmission from Polish label Pointless Geometry comes courtesy of percussionist and leading force in Polish experimental music Qba Janicki, and Belgian sound sculptor and Knives alumni Obsequies. Titled Autolysis, the release blends various production techniques, from sound sculpting to processed percussion and digital manipulation, recorded through improvisation before being fully formed into an album. Described by both parties as an "electro-acoustic sound organism, which consumes its own flesh for the purpose of self-regeneration", the release explores a new world of sonics that are built, morphed and layered in the most unpredictable ways.
