Westov Temple is the production and DJ alias of Justin Gibbon, Founder and Creative Director of Great Circles – a Philadelphia-based music platform that includes a record label, online radio station, record shop, and live events. As a DJ and radio host as well as a lifelong musician,  Justin’s selections reflect his continuous exploration of sounds ranging from the universal and emotionally engaging to the most unusual and experimental.

"Marissa and I met in 2021 and connected over a shared passion for new and archival recordings emerging from Africa, Asia, South America and beyond. Knowing that Marissa and I are often listening to a lot of the same music in that realm - and because my mixes and radio shows are typically more instrumental - I decided to wander in a different direction, and I've selected records that all incorporate vocals in some way. Most of the selections are from the past year or so, and many of them are among my favorite records of 2023. There’s a reflective, wintery mood here, as this mix was recorded as the sun faded on New Year’s Eve - though it’s not without its lighter moments, including an optimistic celebration of the arrival of spring."
