All My Homies Hate 2023 Mix 

This mix is very special to me. Over months, I added songs one by one to a playlist. In a time when I had moved far away from my usual digging practices, I kinda rediscovered h(tr)ip-hop last year. The genre with which I first started exploring music intensively (digging). Obviously I was no longer exclusively listening to this old NY sound that I used to be so passionate about, my taste is in any means evolving, sometimes faster, sometimes slower. However, I will always love to listen to these sneaky-ass rappers hyping them selves up and dissing some imaginary „them“ narrative while smirking all along. I was listening a lot of what falls under the umbrella term 'trap' and alternative, in my opinion, avant-garde interpretations of hip-hop, probably Pop by now. It's also the music that has always helped me navigate through emotional times; albums of artists like Kendrick Lamar or Blood Orange have intensely accompanied me for the past 10 years. In this mix, I'm not trying to present digging as an elitist demonstration of knowledge/interest, as I may subconsciously used to before *, but rather as an accessible service for listeners. Some tracks have millions of plays, something that wouldn't have crossed my mind not too long ago. It’s hard to find your place in a scene where most peers just look out for clout, opportunities or coke haha. What to do, any form of classicism makes me sick, be it in art, music, or anywhere else in society. I’ll always strive to be as real as possible.
