Under his Awanto 3 guise, Steven van Hulle has long been considered a producer with immense potential. Now, he’s finally delivered on that promise with Opel Mantra, his stunning debut album.

To be released across three 12” singles between now and March (with all of the tracks to be collected together on CD at a later date), Opel Mantra twists house music into intoxicating new shapes, fusing a myriad of global influences into one thrilling, surprising whole. This is clandestine, atmospheric deep house as you’ve never heard it before. And boy, does it sound good.

Anyone with a keen interest in the Amsterdam electronic music scene will be familiar with van Hulle’s work. He’s already released a number of acclaimed solo singles on Rush Hour (his loose-limbed, decidedly cosmic debut, For Five, appeared in 2010), alongside highly regarded collaborations with fellow Dutch producers Tom Trago (under the Alfabet alias), Young Marco and San Proper. To date, though, his output has been limited to a handful of inspired productions.

Having had a glimpse of his talents, Opel Mantra proves his credentials once and for all. This first 12” in the series offers more than enough proof. Bristling with humid atmospheres, voodoo rhythms and tropical grooves, it fuses heavy African and South American influences with contemporary deep house sounds and grooves.

Developing on the momentum of ʻForgive Me Loveʼ and ʻNaokoʼ, which gained support from the likes of Bonobo, Maya Jane Coles, Pete Tong and other prominent figures, Lorca 
returns to 'Naked Naked' with three new cuts that have their eyes set firmly on the dance floor.

2014 has been a successful one for the young producer. With a busy DJ schedule, that included a debut set at Panorama Bar, and this release follows on from those experiences 
and is geared towards the big rooms Lorca has become accustomed to.

On ʻCalcutecʼ Lorca wraps an anthemic bassline around a solid, tech-ridden groove, while 'Ndlamu' takes its influence from Africa, utilising hypnotic vocal chants over tribal grit. The 
alternative mix moves into trippier territory as its rumbling bass line and infectious lead, bubble under until reaching a climatic finale.

If anything this latest EP proves that Lorca is more than just a versatile producer. You can only guess at what he will offer up next.

Mat Playford continues his run of form with ace new track ‘ISON’. Beginning with a gurgling, snaking 303 and slamming beats, ‘ISON’ soon develops into piano house euphoria — but not
in a cheesy way. A looped old skool piano refrain mesmerisingly carries the track for a minute or two before some amazing, mazy jazz piano tickles the sensibilities. Boogie-woogie scale-traversing freestyling, some dynamite ivory-tinkling not seen on a dance track since ‘Uncertain Smile’ by The The, it totally makes ‘ISON’. Awesome.

Audio Werner & Jichael Mackson teamed up for these massive bass-driven floorburners.

The A-side “Volt” comes as dedicated buzzer with heavy sub-bass. Make sure you'd be only playing this one on systems which are able to take the extra boost.

The B-Side “Schlamm” is a loose tribal groove adding an extra dose of rough echo and dub effects.

Archaic Space from Greece provides a deep trippy number with warm melody. Finally, S.Moreira who you may know from his incredible releases on the label he co-runs called Slow Life shares a brooding breaks-orientated dance floor destroyer! We feel privileged to have these producers join our family : )

Pour https://soundcloud.com/louisdauvergne l’art de manier la musique n’est pas récent. Après un double cursus jazz et classique qu’il intègre au conservatoire de Mâcon dès l’âge de 8 ans, Louis  débute la House à ses 18 ans. 

De ses productions se dégage ainsi une incroyable cohésion, nourrie de structures toujours plus complexes et maîtrisées. Ce perfectionniste signe notamment sur le premier « Various Artists » de Copie Blanche, avec son morceau « Starfish ». 

Les 4 morceaux et l’interlude de cet EP "Starfish Island" sont le reflet de la personnalité de Louis Dauvergne : originale, un brin bordélique mais toujours dans l’idée de découvrir le jazz-fusion de demain. Les jeux sur les percus et l’esprit funky qui se dégagent de l’ensemble confère à cet EP le charme d’une House portée sur les origines de la black music.

En attendant la sortie prévue fin Mars 2018, Louis a quand même pensé à nous. Un paquet caché se trouve à proximité du jardin Damia Island à Paris dans le coffre d’une “Comet”. Promis ce n’est pas de la bière…
