Deeper Side Of Surrey - Realhouse Radio (6/7/13)

For over 20 years now a group of our close friends have all got together on the 26th of November to celebrate and remember the life of our beloved and truly missed friend Mackie. This last November his sister decided to hold a little boat party on the Thames and I was kindly asked to play some records among a few other great DJ's from back in our day. All the DJ's were on point that night but this is a little mix of my classics set. What a great night!!!

Every track is a little reminder of the man himself, it could be one of his overwhelming catalogue of first class productions or remixes or just a memory of the many amazing nights(and sometimes days 😂) spent with or listening to the Guvnor either on one of his quality mix tapes dating back to the early 90’s or at the helm behind the decks or even just simply shaking it up on a dance floor at plethora of amazing events we attended spanning a friendship for nearly 30 years. 

Sadly taken from us far to early and missed enormously by all that had the pleasure of knowing him, this is my little tribute to those memories and the the man himself. RIP Phil 🙏🏻❤️

Quentin Harris for me is one of the most prolific producers and DJ's of our time. Since hearing his unique blend of deep & soulful vocal house back in 2004 with his release of Traveling with Cordell MccLary and then the Episodes EP to his latest re production of Studio Apartments Beautiful Sunrise and the catalogue of unbelievable music in between he has always been in the forefront of the global house scene and is always on point with his recognisable deep but with a soulful edge sound. A few years back I did a little mix that was dedicated to Q and his influence over my musical taste and  DJ style and here it is for you all to hear. Every track on this mix has either been produced, re-mixed or re-rubbed by the man himself and is my way of showing respect to one of my hero's of house. San Francisco Late Night Mix

In 2004 in a little dark corner of the Mission district San Francisco a small but perfectly formed club dedicated to quality House Music, friends, family and good vibes opened its doors and made a massive impact on the music scene and the many that regularly ventured through its flower lined, sweet smelling doors. It became a home from home for me and over the 4 years the doors remained open a place that I literally lived in almost every night of the week. Pink showcased the very best of Global DJ talent with names like Louie Vega, Tony Humphries, Quentin Harris, Miguel Migs, Marques Wyatt, Dimitri from Paris, Glenn Underground, Jerome Sydenham, Jask, Scott Wozniak, Neil Aline, Master Kev and many more as well as a host of amazing local resident DJ talent including my mentor and good friend Mr Franky Boissy and of course myself and far too many names to mention. After 4 years of amazing vibes, good times, great music and many late nights, after parties and hangovers Pink sadly and finally closed its doors and I headed back to the UK. In December 2016 the Owners of Pink decided to host a reunion party at an amazing new venue in the heart of Downtown San Francisco called Hawthorne, the club was re-decorated to actually even look and feel like the old Mission home with a sound system to match and I was gladly asked to come back home for one night and play music to a gathering of old friends and family as well as many new faces that had simply wanted to feel and understand the legendary Pink Vibe. Myself, Stephan King, Lady LaStar and of course Mr Franky Boissy all got behind the decks that night and what a show we put on.
