**Production Notes**

Netlabel Remixes for the Disquiet Junto are always nice - in my hands, they tend to become beats ranging from 90 to 120 bpm. This one's 104 bpm.

All the sounds were made from the material provided. The samples were used for all the drums, drumloops and gnarly melody loops. 

Well, I cheated a bit and rendered one MIDI melody / bassline from the original sample material. Ableton Live does that magic trick. Took an 303 wannabe emulation I built several weeks ago in Live. The rest was twisting knobs and trying to get the levels right.

4 hours of work. My ears bleed. Tired now. Good nite.

Last Kiss, Lingering

after downloading and listening to the three tracks (which are all excellent in their own right) I cut  out the bits required and looped parts pitchshifted parts and drank beer.
then i relooped and resampled parts, a bit of panning here and there and more beer eventually I ended up with this, which is exactly what I really wanted in the first place.

happiness is wanting what you have, eh?

3 In 1(disquiet0161 - Netmixrelabel)

This piece is just 3 tracks:

1. Tiny slices of all 3 tracks were mangled in Audacity then put in Ableton's Impulse sampler. All 16th note instances of the samples were activated and run through a random midi note generator. The result was recorded onto another audio track, and the best parts extracted and looped for the final track.

2. What sounds like a brief organ stab in one of the tracks was stretched and had vinyl distortion added in Audacity. 

3. One of the drum tracks was sent through Audaacity's noise remover and hi pass filter, to isolate the percussion. It was placed in Ableton and the loop was recorded onto another track, while I adjusted the Track Offset on the original sample.

Squatter

Just two sound sources: FM radio tuned to a classical station, and a solenoid hitting a wooden lid, picked up with a contact mic.

Both sounds are from the Koma Field Kit. The solenoid is being triggered by random gates from a 2hp RND. Both sounds are run through a 2hp Delay and Verb. I am manually changing the RND speed, mix levels of the contact mic and radio, and the Delay feedback.

The Waver

My 33 1/3 series book about the Aphex Twin album <i>Selected Ambient Works Volume II</i> was published in 2014. The book was one of the top 5 bestselling titles for the calendar year, and in 2015 was ranked by Pitchfork as one of the "33 best" of the 100-plus books in the 33 1/3 series. It has subsequently been translated into Japanese (2019) and Spanish (2018)

Since 2012 I have moderated the Disquiet Junto group, which began on SoundCloud. More at disquiet.com/junto. 

I've written for Nature, Pitchfork, The Wire, Down Beat, Boing Boing, NewMusicBox, Red Bull Music Academy, Art Practical, the website of The Atlantic, and many other publications. 

I've exhibited sound art at galleries in Los Angeles (Crewest), Manhattan (apex art), and Dubai (DUTAC), and I had a audio-visual installation at the San Jose Museum of Art as part of its 45th anniversary.
