Experimental theme which may turn into a song. Experimenting with my guitar playing and different uses of voice in this one :)

This song is genuinely about an experience my sister underwent when a criminel fleeing the police got in her parked car with her in it and offered her £20 to help him escape the police. He eventually got out of the car.

Half past ten theme

This is a song about the first time I smoked weed! Young child Florence thought she was a high kite indie. This song talks about the nice de-stressing effects of weed, which I will vouch for to this day.

The girl with the red eyes

This song is about falling in love with someone despite them being at « long-distance ». Admittedly, the lyrics of this song confuse me in hindsight as I can’t remember all of the nuance of how I felt in this relationship but I’m pretty sure I experienced problems in communication which led me to question whether I was just chasing a relationship/connection or whether the relationship was « real ». The distance also posed problems as I wanted to know that we’d finally meet and progress in our relationship but I don’t know that this feeling was reciprocated. The lyrics reflect the seeds of such a realisation.

Moth

This song is about being in the dark tunnel after a breakup where you really struggle to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Some days are ok, others are awful. It’s been so long since you felt « really happy » that you start to question when that feeling will come back. It will though.

number 10

This song is about being completely used for sex and then crying about it on the bus home. Voilà.

This song calls out somebody who messes you around. They love you, and then they just want to be friends. Rude and unwelcome behaviour!

Things you do

This song is about the contradictory feelings which often afflict us after a difficult breakup where you are struggling between your love for the person, your love in that relationship and the acceptance that the relationship wasn’t right - that you are two people, more different to one another than what you’d previously believed. 

The song also reflects on the dependency we can feel on intimate relationships, the idea that we need validation from this « other person », hence the line « do I just have a need to be loved by someone who’s got a… »
In my case, the ellipsis is supposed to suggest a willy, a penis, a dick - whatever term you prefer - I allude to the question of female dependency on men. This aspect of the male/female dynamic is particularly pertinent here as women have been, historically, socially inferior/dependant on men, hence my further self reflection as to whether my experience and feelings post-breakup could reveal me to be an inherent reflection of this history
