"Puttin' on the Ritz," whose title is derived from the fashionable Ritz Hotel and means "dress smartly and fashionable," is a song by Irving Berlin that first appeared in the 1930 musical film of the same name. Since then, it has been performed many times, for example by Fred Astaire or, in the top-ten version from the 1980s by Taco. Lorenzo Bocci arranged the rhythmically interesting, swinging piece for wind orchestra.

Shamrock Rhapsody
Inspired by the richness and vibrancy of the traditional Irish repertoire, this work for wind band weaves a sonic journey through three emblematic melodies: The Kesh Jig, Molly Bán and Star of the County Down. From the very first bars, The Kesh Jig draws us into the effervescent energy of Irish music sessions, where the different sections of the band seem to converse in a rousing dance. The atmosphere then changes with Molly Bán, a ballad imbued with gentleness and nostalgia, giving way to a lyrical expressiveness carried by the colours of the orchestra. Finally, Star of the County Down, with its resolutely marked character, closes the work on an exhilarating rhythmic flight, evoking the wild landscapes and indomitable soul of Ireland. At the crossroads of folklore and modern orchestral writing, this piece celebrates the transmission of traditional melodies by giving them a new, vibrant and evocative sound setting.

'Vals de l’A Fandanga' is a Peruvian-style waltz. Like their European counterparts, Latin American waltzes are meant for dancing, but they are typically performed in more folk and popular settings. As a result, they incorporate many musical elements characteristic of Latin American music.  This piece brings all of these influences together in a harmonious soundscape, woven with a beautiful melody and syncopated rhythms.

The composition was written for and dedicated to the 'Banda Harmonia Mosteirense, ' also known as 'A Fandanga. '

The first idea of this work was composed for playing at my japanese friends' wedding party in 2015. The idea was used almost as-is for the ballad part. The first melody was written for the bride, a tenor saxophonist, and counter melody comes out after for the groom, an oboist. After ballad part, Bossa Nova part comes up next. The first melody in this part was a stretch of the bride's melody. I dedicate this work to my friends Sayako and Hiroki.

A large part of the country is also formed by sweeping regions with vast meadows covered with flowers. Perhaps a visitor of Iceland might be even able to witness the elves teasing one or two trolls.

A peaceful anthem

Lorenzo Bocci was born in Cecina in 1975, Tuscany, Italy.
He began his theoretical musical studies and the study of the trumpet at the age of 8 at the Music School in his town (Donoratico).
At the age of 12 he joined the Municipal Band, where he had his first relationships with the band repertoire and with band instrumentation.
After completing his master's studies he graduated in Trumpet at the "Pietro Mascagni" Musical Institute in Livorno.
He has played with various classical and jazz orchestras and ensembles, giving performances both in Italy and abroad (Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Czechoslovakia).
He carried out his military service with the Army Band as a trumpet player and as a collaborator in the music archive.
During this period he was more widely introduced to the knowledge of the musical band, from the historical point of view, of the instrumentation and direction, by Maestro Fulvio Creux with whom he still maintains a relationship of esteem and collaboration.
He directed the “Giuseppe Verdi” Philharmonic of San Vincenzo (LI) from 2001 to 2006, the Società Filarmonica Pisana (PI) from 2006 to 2009, the “Pietro Mascagni” Philharmonic of Cecina (LI) from 2001 to 2014 and from 2000 to 2018 the Peccioli Philharmonic Society (PI).
He is currently director of the Premiata Filarmonica “Giuseppe Verdi” in Calci (PI).
He is an arranger and composer for band, orchestra, chamber music groups and various more or less usual wind ensembles and many of his pieces are published by publishing houses:
HAL LEONARD-DE HASKE PUBLICATIONS, MOLENAAR EDITION, ALLEMANDA and MASTER SYMPHONY.
His arrangements are recorded on CDs by the best European and world bands such as: The Johan Willem Friso Military Band (Holland), The Band of the Belgian Navy (Belgium), The Police Band of Baden Wurttemberg (Germany), Slovenian Police Orchestra (Slovenia ), The Washington Winds (United States), Midwest Winds (United States), by the Brass Band “Soli Brass” (Holland), Banda de Música da Força Aérea (Portugal), Banda Sinfònica da Policia de Seguranca Pùblica (Portugal) and Landespolizeiorchester (Germany).
In 2010 he obtained the “P. Mascagni” of Livorno the II level Academic Diploma in Instrumental Teaching in the competition class A077 (Trumpet).
Since 2011 he has held the trumpet chair at the “L. Andreotti” of Pescia (PT).
Since 2021 he has held the trumpet chair at the “M. L. Niccolini” of Ponsacco (PI).
