Underground king and dance-floor hustler Phil Austrom lives for the party. Drawing from his background in jazz and a passion for high-energy grooves, Phil found his calling behind the decks at renegade bush raves across British Columbia. In 2023, Phil founded Howitzer records; eschewing the constraints of genres, Howitzer Records’ sole focus is dance music of uncompromising quality.

We have gotten to know Phil over the last few years and like a fine wine, he just keeps getting better (shenanigans and all). But seriously, it has been a pleasure building our music repetoire with this strapping young lad. Phil is what they mean when people say "surround yourself with talented people."

**Eons ago, there lived an intelligent species of beings called Nocturns. They lived on the dark side of a planet called Noxterra, a land of constant darkness, being in perpetual eclipse with a tidally locked moon. Over time, their moon would be pulled out of orbit by a large, rogue planet drifting from outside of their solar system. As their moon drifted, its shadow upon Noxterra began to lift. The Nocturns knew this would result in their eventual demise, as they had evolved in darkness, were very photosensitive would burn and go blind easily. Although researchers had attempted to live on Luxterra, the light side of Noxterra, they understood that their biology required darkness to thrive. Knowing their fate was in their own hands they knew a time would come when they would have to reform their society and build the Dark Ship: Extropy to take them into the darkness of deep space, in search of a new home. They were pensive but optimistic, as they believed it was in their destiny to populate every habitable dark land of the Galaxy. One day a message was sent to the masses, that the time had come. That message went something like this.
