Shes Dancing Now

"The Haunted House" is a short story written by Virginia Woolf from 1921 about a couple returning to a house they used to live in after they have died searching for what they have lost there. 

Read by me. This was a difficult challenge to read as the voices swap back and  forth from ghost to the living to narrator. My first try.

Interruption to a Journey

The hare we run over bounced about the road 
On the springing curve of it’s spine
cornfields breathed in the darkness
We were going through the darkness
and breathing cornfields from one 
impassable place to another

we broke the hare’s neck
and made that place for a moment
the most important place there was
where a bow string was cut
and a bow broken forever
that had shot itself through so
many of our darknesses and cornfields
it was left in that landscape
it left us in another
