This choral setting of Shakespeare’s Sonnet 2 explores the theme of aging, legacy, and renewal. The work unfolds in two parts: a solo recitative that captures the intimate meditation of the poet, and a choral conclusion that transforms the sonnet’s couplet into a communal affirmation of rebirth and continuity.

The solo, performed by Alejo Alvarez Castillo, gives voice to Shakespeare’s reflection on beauty fading with time, framed in stark yet lyrical lines that mirror the sonnet’s contemplative tone.

The choir, The Macrófona Choir under the direction of Héctor Muñoz, brings Shakespeare’s final couplet to life:
“This were to be new made, when thou art old,
To see thy blood warm, when thou feel’st it cold.”
In this setting, voices weave together, offering a vision of warmth and renewal carried forward through future generations.
