Connect the Dots is the more cynical, lonesome side of things. A bluesy, wallowing vibe that is infused with frustration and an agitated helplessness - an expression of passionate despair. It speaks of being fed up and worn down, about the feeling that nothing You do is amounting to anything. About the sorrow of connecting the dots only to discover that the world is even more messed up and dysfunctional than You first thought. And no matter what You do, things don't always magically get better right away. It is the acceptance of darkness, and a stubborn resignation from seeking the light - to revel in the shade. A reminder of how things that You thought were 'good' things, can also lead to 'bad' things. A lament for the darkness in all things. A stagnant song about giving up on curiosity and inquisitiveness, or on continuing to learn and understand the things in life because it is too painful to 'know' certain things. Dream on Wheels is the happier, communal side of things. A poppy, feel-good vibe that is infused with colour and a shining sense of hope. It speaks of a magical train that cuts through the darkness, picking up anyone with a dream, a hope, a belief in a brighter future. And how being together on that train we can inspire each other, and motivate each other to enact positive change in the world, for ourselves, for those here and now who feel trapped in a dark or depressing world, for those who came before us, and for those who will come after. To give us the confidence to question the way things are, to stand up for what we feel is right, not with violence, but with the colour and light of our voices and our choices. It is an acceptance of the existence of darkness, but a calm refusal to allow that darkness to define Your life - to revel in bright possibility. This one's got a bit of groovy spice on it, as a song about endings, and an ode to befriending, I hope it serves as a nice transition piece for life's many before's and after's. 

The Photo is a bouquet of fallen Ginkgo leaves that form a beautiful flower shape. I like to interpret it as leaf-endings gathering together (as leaf-friends) to become something greater than their individual leaf-selves. The flower of community!

A New Zealand Reggae styled song of Love, close bonds, connection, kinship, and marriage, inspired by and dedicated to my beloved family Jana and Colin to commemorate their wedding! I can’t thank Stevie enough, he made me feel like a superstar for once in my life (the kind of superstar that writes songs sitting her bed, records it on the phone and STILL can make a great song out of it). This song is about forgiveness.

To me, forgiveness is the process that ends negative cycles.
It does not take an eye for an eye. It lets go of revenge. It does not keep tally, it wipes the board clean. 
It turns garbage into rich composted soil, for the seed of new beginnings to grow.
It is not above anything or anyone - ever humble - it is at the bottom - the foundation.

Forgiveness is fundamental, not only for our society, it's past and it's future, but for each of us individually.

No life can be lived without making mistakes - without hurting someone else, or ourselves, whether intentional or not.
And No life of Love and Happiness can be lived without forgiveness.

I ask forgiveness, for those who I've hurt...

And I forgive those who have hurt me. (I am my own worst offender)

I don't want to keep score - I want to Love, and I want us all to get along - humans, birds, trees, oceans.

Due to recent events, I want to dedicate this song to environmental awareness - We cannot keep cutting down forests, and polluting oceans.

The meaning of this song is in it's title - it's all about Self-Love.

The song was initiated and inspired by Ryan, and his incredibly sincere heart - The poetry was written based on my own journey towards Self-Love.
It can be a very difficult and terrifying thing to Love oneself, but if we don't try, then how can we truly and deeply Love any other?
It is no kindness to ourselves or others to leave our heart a mess, and our soul a war-zone.

You are not alone -

But there are things that only You can face, that only You can accept, that only You can forgive.

No one else can do it for You.

To Love Yourself isn't a one-time accomplishment. It isn't a noun. It's a verb, it's a constant unfolding, as we unfold and grow as people and souls, there is always something new that will arise within us that will require our acceptance and our Love.

This Love will take the fragmented, and make it wholesome again.

Don't condemn Yourself - You are worthy of Love and Life - You always have been, and You always will be.
Forgive Yourself, and do Your best to stop hurting Yourself - one day at a time, one step at a time, begin to Live the Life that makes You happy. Begin to nourish Your heart, and it will reveal many things to Love.

This song was so much fun to make! In addition to it's supreme goofiness, it holds quite a depth of meaning for me.

It's about embracing life's inevitable struggles, pains, confusions, frustrations, and depressions as a part of being alive, and not running from them or feeling afraid or ashamed of them. This is part of who we are - there is no happiness in running from ourselves. We cannot be at peace while we are afraid of our own depths. 

It's about releasing and liberating ourselves from the pressures of being the person that we think other people want us to be, and instead being who we are, following our hearts, and blossoming as the uniquely beautiful flower that each and every one of us is.

It's about relinquishing the desire to fix and change others, and learning to accept them as they are, even if we don't understand it.

It's about enjoying the simplicity and playfulness of life. Letting go and being content and grateful with what we have, and who we are in any given moment. Sitting in a funk and feeling our way through it, not distracting ourselves from what we are feeling.

Your Funk isn't a bad word - if You're in a Funk - Embrace the Funk - Live the Funk - Breathe the Funk - Become the Funk - LOVE THE FUNK!!!

Sing with the Struggles, Dance with the Depressions, Paint with the Pains! YOU ARE ALIVE - You are ALOVE - and You are worthy of Your place on this earth.
