Canberra-based DJ on the rise Chloe Maguire curates Lost Sundays Sessions 010. 

A growing hometown hero for clued-up house heads, Chloe has been tapped as support for CC:DISCO, DJ Boring, Skin On Skin and Andy Garvey in both Sydney and the nation's capital.

Spanning the likes of Dimitri From Paris to Palms Trax, Danny Mekanik to Moktar and Chinaski to Chiapet, this Session showcases the full range of Chloe's selection prowess.

In Chloe's own words:

"The track I'm most excited by is 'Trompeta Alegre' by Chicago's DJ Lego. Released through France-based project 'Africanism', the track's uplifting trumpets paired with the groovy bassline make this song impossible to not dance to. Its cheerful, euphoric energy makes it perfect for an afternoon event in the summertime.

Helsinki-based DJ/producer/designer Emkay is someone I’ve discovered recently through her latest EP, ‘Now We’re Fucking Doing It’ - mostly because it includes an edit of Sansibar, an artist that’s been on my radar for a while. I play ‘Bootiesong’ near the end of the mix, which features a pacey bassline, melodic synths and sexy vocals. I’m very excited to see what Emkay produces in years to come!

As far as club records go, I’m excited to play 'Ride the Rhythm' (Danny Mekanik’s 21st Anniversary Mix) from This Ain’t Chicago, a release of underground sounds compiled by Richard Sen. It’s a classic UK house track featuring acidic melodies and a fun vocal.

Finally, I finished this mix with Moktar’s new release 'Lemon' which I’ve become obsessed with recently. Moktar is an Egyptian/Australian producer whose heritage you can hear influence his music - breakbeats that utilise Arabic percussion and marching band samples makes for an interesting sonic combination!" - @chloemaguire1

Our seventeenth Lost Sundays Session is delivered by woman of the moment, Willo.

Fresh from gracing the cover of your favourite Spotify playlists, Willo’s rise has only quickened off the back of the release of her debut EP, ‘Past Time’ (via Eora-based label, @eclecticsydney). 

With coveted support slots for the likes of Maceo Plex, Dom Dolla and Loods on the horizon, Willo is returning to Lost Sundays to warm up for HAAi and Jennifer Loveless as part of our special Mardi Gras-weekend relaunch this Sunday, March 6. With selections from Skin On Skin, Overmono, Bicep and Kosh, as well as some of her own productions, Willo’s Lost Sundays Session is now streaming via the link in our bio.

In her own words:

“If there’s one artist that gets my ears all perky, it’s forward-thinking electro maestro, Kosh. Listen out for ‘Null 212’, I love the way the riff perfectly weaves in-and-out to the space between the classic breakbeat rhythm. I’ve been rinsing Kosh's discography as of late.

If there’s a perfect club track in this mix it has to be ‘Talaria’ by Scuba. It’s so easy to latch onto the dreamy arpeggio, layered with a subby bass line that pulses the track forward. I can’t wait to play this one at LS!

I’ve also thrown in a forthcoming remix of mine for Eora-based techno producer, End in Tears. His EP is out on Eclectic next month and it’s so damn good - I can’t help but be drawn to the synth lead in this track and was so thrilled to be able to put my spin on it.

Finally, I’ve rounded off the mix with Skin On Skin’s remix of ‘Love’, by SWIM. I adore everything SWIM puts out, he really captures that 90’s rave nostalgia and Skin On Skin graciously beefs things up to make it club-ready without disrupting the integrity of the track.” - @willomp3

Eora-based DJ, producer and Start Local Records label-head, Tom Bruce is not one to sit still. Today, he steps up to deliver Lost Sundays Session #022 🏄🏼‍♂️

A pillar of the scene and a regular face at Lost Sundays, Tom Bruce has proved himself and more since his debut EP 'Cloudy Days Often Have The Best Sunsets' released on Eora's @galleryrecordings last year. Often spotted passing the headphones to partner in crime Cleo, this time around he's brewed up a Tom Bruce special - an hour of grooves. In his own words:

"I don't think I've made a mix that didn't include a Fantastic Man gem. The way he blends really hard-hitting bass with softer, also italo-type sounds just creates such interesting tracks that can be played in almost any setting. I caught him playing the Lovejoy party a few months back and it just further cemented my love for everything he does.

I've been listening to quite a lot of Eden Burns lately and just love his approach to making music. He just releases so much stuff and he clearly doesn't take himself too seriously, which I think is really important when making music. He just makes all sorts of crazy, groovy stuff and pushes it out. I've got in the habit of whenever he releases another Big Beat Manifesto, I go back through his discography and almost always find a new song I haven't heard.

Keep an ear out for Kermond, a local Sydney artist that I've recently been playing a lot. He sent over some demos to the label I run, @startlocalrecords, and I just couldn't stop playing them. The same week just I just happen to run into him at a gig and we just got chatting, lovely guy and is just making such cool music. His track Ur Love is a serious earworm!

'Holding On' by Lone Cat is a track I am dying to play out sometime soon. I am an absolute sucker for classic house sounds, anything with some piano and a few gospel vocals I'm weak at the knees haha. I love to sprinkle really uplifting vocal tracks through all my sets cause I just love to share those soulful moments with crowds. People should normalise clenching their fists and singing along in the club.
