Nintefourth release by the Malta-based label Lost & Found presents Tuba Twooz, a tandem with a secret identity. When music is the case, the masked duo Tuba Twooz is more dynamic than most superheroes. While the duo members have unique personalities, their reliance on one another makes them intertwined both in the studio and during their live shows. The duo has one of the most productive partnerships in underground dance music. They have been inseparable since 2017, delivering a homemade blend of Melodic House & Techno, Organic House, and Electronica.
From the opening patterns of Orange Sphere, it becomes evident that something noteworthy takes place in between the notes. The duo fuses ethnic elements and science-fiction sounds with a trance- inducing atmosphere. In Awake, the music moves toward eighties- inspired vocals and disco-based bass grooves. The musical story culminates with Don ́t Be Afraid of Crowded Room, making this 3-track material more than just another release. The 17-minute audio journey takes chances, breaks boundaries, and delivers impressive music-making!

Madloch’s Sound Avenue imprint continues their Bandcamp Exclusives with the 2022 edition of their Summer Sampler Series. As a long running label tradition, Sound Avenue’s seasonal sampler series has been a landing spot for artists across the globe. A broader vision has seen the imprint and series evolve, now encompassing a cornucopia of sounds and styles. While still firmly rooted in all spectrums of house music, the Belgian imprint frequently touches on ambient, electronica, dub techno and more; resulting in a cohesive sound that is both colourful and contemporary. Perhaps best suited to a free-thinking platform such as Bandcamp, the 2022 edition of the Summer Sampler series has allowed label boss Madloch to stretch his creative vision one notch further, inviting Darren Bray, Facundo Borras, J.P. A talented and prolific artist, Nōpi returns to Meanwhile with a second original EP in the shape of the 3-track masterpiece, "Stri;la".

A rising Ukrainian star in the underground dance firmament, Nōpi has featured in the upper echelons of the Progressive and Organic House charts with a plethora of tracks signed to finest modern imprints. Replug, When We Dip XYZ and Anjunadeep have all played host to his distinctive and mellifluous tones, while Meanwhile also saw Nōpi release a twin-track offering of the highest order in January 2021 with his "Spoon Light" EP.

The "Stri;la" title track immediately excites with its powerful rhythmic backdrop and driving beat. A running bassline soon adds to the overall urgency while trademark atmospheric keys float over the mid-range in unhurried fashion. The juxtaposition between free-flowing melodies and rapid-fire percussion creates a delicious tension, before a glorious breakdown displays a wealth of textures, effects and atmospheres. Building into a rousing crescendo, the final movement explodes into life with a cascading array of harmonies and dynamic dancefloor prowess.

Continuing the powerful rhythmic force, "Stay" combines chest-thumping kick and ticking percussive groove, while underwater effects and mesmerising looped motif create a filtered sequence that resonates with tape delay and panned ambient effects. Bearing all the hallmarks of The Future Sound of London during their "Dead Cities" era, Nōpi has successfully captured an iconic sound while simultaneously advancing it into the modern progressive zeitgeist with a plethora of attendant organic house influences and multi-faceted aural tapestry. The resultant piece is as distinctive as it is ingenious and sonically rewarding, both in club and solo listener environments.

The final track sees the deeper vibe of "My Prophet World" take centre stage. Playing host to a filtered bassline cadence and pulsating white-noise pads infused with delays, an evocative melody gradually emerges to sit perfectly atop the classy dancefloor backdrop. Over its 8-minute voyage an interwoven tapestry of pitched and delayed motifs fold over each other in coruscating patterns. Full of dancefloor knowhow and immaculate production technique, the track waxes and wanes with typical ease, hitting its mark at the 5-minute point where a magical pause provides the perfect vehicle for Nōpi's delightful melodic groove to take centre stage once more.

Able to paint a unique sonic picture with a canvas full of iridescent colour and vivid texture, Nōpi hits the heights once more with his "Stri;la" triptych.

Rich Curtis has been at the vanguard of the underground dance scene for over 15 years as DJ, promoter and producer. Now, he makes his debut on Balance Music with the 'Baby Raver' EP featuring a pair of standout remixes coming from a fellow Australian and an Argentinean heavyweight.

With a portfolio of production credits to rival the most seasoned performer, Rich Curtis’ work for the likes of Cid Inc.’s Replug, John 00 Fleming’s JOOF Recordings and Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music is testament to the Australian’s standing within the dance fraternity. Now hitting the heights on Balance Music, 'Baby Raver' is a chunky rhythmic powerhouse that revolves around a tight percussive groove and hefty bass groove, in two variations. A relentless, timeless intensity flows through the 'All Tears Edition' with its liberal sprinkling of stereo-panned effects, pausing for breath at an atmospheric, effects-laden breakdown. Subtle melodic flourishes flow through the 'Dry Face Edition' as gently pulsating pads and eerily evolving soundscapes provide additional layers of intrigue and dancefloor depth. The sublimely captivating 'Two Sides to Every Cockroach' is a beatless gem of emotive phrasing and counterpoint melody that flows easily across its 4-minute duration. Making its mark in the latter stages with a bassline growl, the track shows Rich Curtis as a potent sound designer with a flair for the dramatic film score.

Jamie Stevens needs little introduction to the Balance Music faithful, along with Selador, Lost & Found and Bedrock have all played host to Jamie’s music while 2022 has already seen a pair of outstanding EPs on Balance through ‘Exatique' and ‘Becoming', with fellow countryman, GMJ. Now returning, the Jamie Stevens remix of 'Baby Raver' is a deep and driving affair that revels in a rolling percussive groove and chest-thumping kick that provides the perfect anchor for its flowing melodic lines. Taking elements from the original and evolving them into unique new passages that make their presence felt at the mid-point breakdown, Stevens’ remix reaches a rousing crescendo in the final movement as rhythm and melody combine to devastating effect.

The Mike Griego remix is a powerhouse of deep kick and subtly pitched percussive motif. Adding the flowing pads and melodic phrasing from the original creates an almost tribal backdrop that coruscates across the stereo spectrum with ease. Generating a plethora of sonic textures and fizzing effects, delayed-infused vocal cuts and a rippling arpeggio open up at the breakdown before dropping back into the powerful rhythmic collage in a true ‘hands-in-the-air’ moment where all elements combine to devastating effect.
