'For this week’s episode of the FMB Mixtape Series, we welcome Black Eyes, aka Matthew Jesus and the founder of Mancunian party Lost Control. As always we first asked what he’s been up to recently and to tell us about the mix…

I have just set up a record label called Lost Control 2097. It’s a new platform for releasing all things ranging from Sub Aquatic Electro, Plasma House to Cybernetik Techno brought back from the year 2097 via the 7th Dimensiøn portal. The first record has just come out on now on vinyl and it’s by Texan electro legend ‘Cygnusʼ. 

The mix was recorded at Home using 2 CDJs, a mixer and 1 Technic Deck. And a glass of plasma juice for the energy.

It’s a range of stuff I either always have in my record bag and some new stuff coming out on the label very shortly.

The next release is out next month on the label so there is that. I am releasing my debut EP after that record is out and finally, I have been recording an EP with Reedale Rise under a joint alias; we are called Planet People (itʼs mega dope what weʼve been working on) and will be out later this year.

This is the first release from long time running party 'Lost Control' in Manchester and Berlin and NTS resident under the same name run by Black Eyes. The label itself is our new extension of the portal from the 7th dimension. Specialising in plasma house, sub-aquatic electro and cyber techno all brought back from the year 2097. The first EP is from Texan electro legend Cygnus. We don't need to explain how good he is. We just hope you enjoy the ride of cyber soul at its deadliest. There's even a tribute track to city of Manchester where Lost Control was birthed. The vinyl colour is inspired by the by acid blood of the xenomorphs from the Alien movies, meaning it's translucent fluorescent yellow. "They mostly come at night...mostly!" The record is also mastered by Dutch synth genius Rude 66.

Head hydro-tripper Black Eyes has risen from the depths of the deep to release his debut solo record Hydro-Trip vol 1. Fresh off the sea creature’s back from co-producing the ‘Planet People - Terra Firma EP’ with synth botherer Reedale Rise which came out earlier this year. His solo endeavour takes us on a jazzier vibe yet still keeping true to the deep ways of the water.

Lead track ‘Understood Sea Being’ plunges us on a rugged ride with deep Detroit chords and Black Eyes’s own punk-like vocals throughout. ‘Let’s Get Deeper’ slows the pace up with chopped up samples and introduces us to the classic hydro-trip sound we’ve grown to love down here in the underwater cities; it’s deep and trippy. ‘Scuba Lyfe’ picks up the pace a bit but evolves into a low down dubby groove mixed with some hi-tek jazz. Asking Rolando (who we all know was part of the infamous Underground Resistance and Los Hermanos, as well being a Berghain resident DJ more recently) to come on board the subterranean vessel was an obvious choice for remix. He switches the gears and adds some fluid Detroit techno to finish off the EP. Berlin based Deskai masters the EP who also mastered the Planet People EP so you know what to sonically expect.

This EP has been in the making for some years and we are happy to finally share the way of the hydro-trip with all you land dwellers. As per usual with anything hydro-trip related; scuba gear in heavily encouraged when listening this EP. Let’s keep it deep! 🌊🤿

Lost Control 2097 present the long awaited follow up to last years debut Hydro-Trip Vol. 1 EP from Berlin based producer Black Eyes who's fresh off releases on Upstairs Asylum and Rawax.

Hydro-Trip Vol. 2 is a mixture of warm rugged soulful house drawing inspirations from the oceans wildly flowing life. A combination of subterranean chord rawness, crunchy drum workouts, sleazy basement vox and a very dope remix from Detroit myth-like producer 'Walt J' round off an EP constructed for the real deep house katz. 

As per usual, scuba gear is heavily encouraged. Let's keep it REAL deep!
