Off the grid techno. Music inspired by a melting pot of communities and cultures and a movement spearheaded by South African born, Amsterdam based Lee Ann Roberts. Bursting onto the techno scene in 2020 with her debut release on Spanish label Suara, 'Miyamoto' charted at number 2 on Beatport’s ‘Hard Techno’ genre. Spring 2021 also saw her release an EP on respected label Octopus Warehouse Series.
 
Passionate and disciplined, Lee Ann is creating a real presence in the scene with her unrelenting sound, NowNow Records launch and a desire to create a community that knows no prejudice. Her label launched with 'I Want You' in 2021 featuring a Dense & Pika remix, with further releases scheduled with remix packages from MRD, D.A.V.E The Drummer, Jay Clarke and more. The first vinyl cut on the imprint 'Feel' will drop in September.
 
Lee Ann has been passionate about the creative arts for as long as she can remember. From an early age music and singing came naturally. These years of musical grooming inspired her to learn to DJ and on leaving school she took to turntables. Lee Ann fast became a regular partygoer on the club and festival circuit, where she watched the world's best DJ’s play unforgettable sets, and as time passed her own record collection grew until she felt ready to take her first steps into the South African music world.
 
Lee Ann kicked off her own radio show on Mutha FM in Cape Town until her travels took her to Los Angeles where she found a home at renowned nightclub AVALON, whilst  honing her producing skills. More gigs soon followed, including performances at 'Secret Solstice', Caprice's 'Off Festival' as well as numerous events in North America, Europe and South Africa.
 
A force to be reckoned with, Lee Ann is also a keen philanthropist and recently became an ambassador for MAAC (Music Against Animal Cruelty). With a desire to bring awareness to the plight of wildlife that is being threatened due to human destruction, she is using her voice for those who don’t have one.
 
Lee Ann has lived a rich, multicultural experience and throughout the years has taken inspiration from the Jimi Hendrix era of psychedelic rock through to the grunge era of Nirvana while staying grounded in her native African roots. The result of this unique blend has given birth to her signature techno sound that takes you on a vibrant journey, inviting you to taste soundbites from the past, present and future.

Hemka joins for DifferentSound Podcast #167.

Marseille-born DJ and producer, Hemka. Hemka’s life has been influenced with music since a young age, growing up in a musical family and playing bass guitar as a teenager. However, her musical career lifted off since 2017 with “The mystery of the Black Flamingo”, which was released on Float Records. Since then, the French artist released on many renowned labels such as Rekids, Bpitch, Symbolism, Noise Manifesto, among others. Her productions are full of shrewd, minimalistic sounds – paradoxically enough making up her very maxed-out production style. Ambitious and goal driven, she has just launched her own label called ‘Nerudo’, on which she has released her first 4tracks EP called « Divine Beast ».

Within the Mødule event series, he hosted parties with artist such as: Zadig, UVB, Henning Baer, P.e.a.r.l. or Setaoc Mass. Club savage with no fear of any dancefloor.

BIO:
Vinyl and it’s sound has always been the love of the Wroclaw artist Aksamit. In her compositions, you can find hypnotic sounds of ambient, deep techno and tribal.
A Wrocław DJ, a resident at Projekt Pralnia, a founder of Affekt and
Velvet Vortex, is definitely rising talent in the polish techno scene. Her love of vinyl led her to the Berlin club Tresor, in which she played during the iconic Klubnacht & All You Need Is Ears. Currently, she has performed in most Polish clubs and festivals - Wisłoujście, Revive, Instytut, LAS Festival, Kaskada Festival and Audioriver Festival. She has also performed outside of Poland - Germany, Spain, Andorra, Denmark, Ireland and the UK. She recently won the Polish Club Stage award in the Munoludy plebiscite in the Discovery of the Year 2018 category. 
During her short 3-year history with techno music, she had the honour of playing alongside such artists as Dasha Rush, Ellen Allien, Chris Liebing, Keith Carnal, Neel, Takaaki Itoh, Perc, Monoloc, Tadeo, Introversion, Luigi Tozzi, Claudio, PRC, Korridor or Refracted.

BIO:
Born and bred in Tricity - northern Poland, Natt has been producing and DJ-ing since 2009 being a strong representative of seaside drum and bass scene. In 2018 he cofouned DREN project (alongside with Akton) what resulted in moving him towards more experimental sound scapes. 
Natt is constantly searching and developing his style as a producer and being avid enthusiast of Black Metal you can clearly hear this influence being incorporated into his broken beat and heavy bass musical structures.
