Technical Report on Sensitivity in Degraded Systems

In an environment where the boundary between the organic and the synthetic has eroded, Under Step operates as a sonic mapping of systems on the brink of collapse. Each pulse, each frequency, records a residual function: the recirculation of emotional waste, the persistence of propaganda in ruined spaces, mental trampling as a control mechanism, and finally, the cry for help from machines that have learned to feel.

Under Step does not narrate a dystopia: it documents a present condition. Beneath layers of raw electro, decayed funk, and lofi textures, failed attempts at affective reorganization unfold.

Synthetic voices emit a coded message:

The final warning before the definitive silence.

Following his debut album last year, Sentient returns on the label with Unspeakable Periphery: Otherworld Transmission, a remix compilation that reframes his original work through the lens of a carefully curated group of artists.

From Alpha Solo’s dubbed-out abstraction to Clearlight’s tekker translation, from Soreab and La Serpiente tense rhythmic frameworks, to Left Path and Barking hypnotic and meditative zones, the compilation traverses overall percussive science and atmospheric deconstructions.

Closing the journey is a haunting illbient reinterpretation of the entire original album by Sentient himself, reassembling his own compositions into something more introspective - a stretched and fractured world somewhere adjacent to this one. As a bonus, the release also includes a continuous mix version of Unspeakable Periphery.

Terra Magica Rec. is a Munich-based label for trippy, hypnotic club music. Since 2021, they’ve dropped vinyl-only releases with artists like Pyramid of Knowledge and Shjva via Bordello A Parigi.

Tom Sprenger is a Munich-based DJ, producer, visual artist and the founder of Terra Magica Rec. and part of the duos Listensport and Hektisch Sprengen. His sound blends psychedelic, analog club vibes with hypnotic, trippy atmospheres.

Dealing Energy refracts light into deep colors and pulses; a fortress for the spirited and unconventional.

Across six tracks, a dream unfurls into sound – patterns emerging like scattered water droplets, a flowing dance of chance and texture. The EP flourishes in the fertile space between the organic and the synthetic, shaped by five original creations plus a ’90s-inspired French Dreamspell house remix by RAMZi, carrying the timeless spirit of the dancefloor.

Hailing from Raw Culture, Anna Funk Damage returns with his third release on the Roman label, delivering a record as fierce as it is intimate. Tarantola was born out of a winter suspended between contrasting emotions – melancholy, anger, love, confusion – distilled into a sound that transforms personal fragility into collective energy. There’s no pursuit of perfection here, but rather an urgency running through the veins, taking shape across supersonic punk, wave, ambient and industrial.
Each track is an emotional fragment, a bite that leaves its mark: from the electric tension of Vivere Distaccati to the feverish rush of Trasmissione, from the rawness of Decadente to the hypnotic title track Tarantola, which embodies the beating heart of the album. Side B unfolds into more nocturnal and intimate landscapes, from Chiang Mai to the disenchanted sincerity of Lavoro Troppo, closing with a party that carries the bittersweet taste of reality.
Tarantola is a journey into the chaos of human emotions, an album that doesn’t just narrate but pulls you deep into its sonic labyrinth, giving noise back its vulnerable yet powerful soul.

Like many of his Far Eastern peers, Wata Igarashi has a deep, trippy, psychedelic techno sound. Listening to his tracks is like being beneath a dark sky that is expertly coloured with little exploding fireworks or shooting stars. There is also an element of automated industry to it that speaks to a bleak future and it comes on labels like Time to Express, Bitta and The Bunker New York. On these releases his immaculate sound design is always subtle yet stirring, and his DJ sets are similarly stylish and absorbing. 

Here he serves up one such trippy techno affair that builds in intensity and has “a little more bite towards the end“ according to the man himself. At two hours long it snakes its way through various desolate landscapes, with dubbed out rollers and more intense, multi-layered cuts all making for a variety of moods and grooves that segue together smoothly and seductively.
