Drawn together by a mutual passion for quality underground music, Dutch based podcast Play by Ear [PBE] and Intrinsic Audio Sessions [IAS] from South Africa have joined forces for a special collaborative series. By combining our respective backgrounds and listenership, the series aims to fuse our tastes and interests through showcasing a dynamic set of mixes that caters for a diverse audience of underground music lovers. To kick off the series, we are proud to feature the talented DJ/Producer -- Manali Shah

Manali Shah: A Mumbai born, Amsterdam based DJ/Producer - the last few years has seen Manali Shah playing in clubs, bars & festivals all over India. Internationally @ Netherlands, Poland, Nepal & Maldives. Focused at delivering intense well-crafted sets, her style is best described as deep tech, minimal, deep tech house, underground house, dub techno & techno - layered with thumping bassline - often stripped down raw & rusty. Forward thinking, yet simple enough to set the vibe & get you grooving. She's a resident DJ @ 42 Radioshow - www.skywalker-fm.com, going on air every third Friday of the month, 8pm CET.

The first release of Venom Recordings is decisively marked by the quest for new musical creativity. A common thread which unites the three Venom’s residents Erlin James, Paul Roux and Absence Of Light, as well as the various artists invited to work with them: Dasein, Julien Piacentino, Satom, Against The Time and Memorial Home. By following their own creative path, they shaped a soundscape that blurs the boundaries between dark and melancholic vibes. Both yearned for nostalgia and inspired by the future, all of these artists combine a compelling deep percussion groove with spellbinding dark textures. When their tracks hit the dancefloor, you will be moved by the rolling bassline and pulsating drums. But the distinctive sonic experience of darkness they provide will also awaken the most obscure and dusky emotions buried in you. An ambivalent feeling whose every inch you will savor. An immersive musical trip through which, as Venom conceives it, the listener is also invited to be an artist himself through his own interpretation of sounds.

As highlighted by us in September last year, then Romanians have unwittingly formed a new blend of dance music, blending minimal techno & groove laden deep house, sewn up and exported to some of the clubbing world's hottest cities. Djs Rhadoo, Raresh and many more have helped to define a new sound amongst an overly-familiar genre - including hot export Priku. This Romanian musician and DJ shares a special 2 hour live mix with MEOKO, recorded at Bucharest's Snrs48 party, in turn delivering a live and unedited snapshot of his driving, deep and at times, subtle sound. A dynamic mix - playing with the space between notes and veering into minimal, atmospheric tapestries - Priku's focus on nuances in sound, percussive elements and thick slabs of bass running throughout shall take the MEOKO listener on a far flung, left of centre journey into a lesser known aesthetic. For an introduction to Amsterdam’s techno scene, few are better suited than Jan Pieter Kind (aka JP Enfant). The young DJ and producer has built links with some of the city’s most coveted clubs for his talents behind the decks over recent years, holding residencies at De School and the now-defunct Trouw. Though he’s best known as a DJ, Kind has helped grow Amsterdam’s electronic landscape as one of the figures behind LET, the acclaimed party series and label where he works as promoter and head of A&R.

With a string of recent releases on LET and a gig schedule spanning across Europe, Kind seems more primed than ever for his career to develop, and his recent relocation to Berlin to go full-time in music should help his growth. This weekend he ticks off a bucket list gig opening up for Jeff Mills in Room One, so he sent us a highly stirring and atmospheric techno mix to show us the roots of his sound.

Formed of two of the three minds behind London-based promoter, On the 5th Day, Abstract Man transfers its artistic intention and love for techno across to parties at the city's best underground music venue, Corsica Studios. Through the parties, alongside a podcast stream and label, On the 5th Day's mission is to build a family of trusting and dedicated music appreciators and to create opportunities for them to connect with the music that they love, bringing up and coming artists to the limelight.
