Son of a humble composer and fractal scientist, Ian Mckenna aka Craftal has furthered the family legacy with his algorithmic approach to computer music. In only a few short years his productions skills have improved at exponential rates. Comparable to the likes of Spoonbill and Bogtrotter with an ever present sonic homage to the one like Dave Tipper. With regular underground sound system appearances and several key performances in the Denver area Craftal has become somewhat of a hometown hero. His recent relocation to Evergreen College in WA for sound design will only sharpen his skills for further explorations into sound. WIth great honor we present to thee Craftal's freshman EP "Unfurlurling".

This week's exclusive mix is from Oakland-based producer/instrumentalist Devin Kroes. The mix features tracks from his new release “Whispers from the Trees” out this week on Street Ritual, as well as some additional choice tunes from his catalog. Middle Eastern flavored rhythms merge and meld with intelligently-crafted bass production, holding our attention from start to finish.

Devin Kroes is an electronic music producer and multi instrumentalist with a desire to awaken and inspire his listeners. Based in Bay Area, California, he seeks to sonically recreate the aesthetics of the world around him with squishy bass and sultry strings. His music seeks to create a sense of familiarity while transporting the listener into the depths of the infinite.  He seeks to provide a unique live experience by utilizing live guitar and a looper, allowing him to improvise and making each set immersive and captivating for the listener. Somatoast - Solstice Mix 2015/16(LostinSound Exclusive Mix)

Kris Edland aka kLL sMTH has become somewhat of a household name here in his home Denver, Colorado. A city where there is no shortage of intelligent glitch Kris' music stands out as one of the more refined and mature sounds. His new EP "Flummoxed" released independently Feb 10th is nothing short of a sonic masterpiece. Highly technical, often incomprehensible production techniques and ever changing music styles throughout. LostinSound.org is excited to premiere the @DevinKroesmusic X @ResonantLanguage collaboration "Misty Peaks" from the forthcoming @chillagerecords compilation album Crunksauce Vol. 5  which features 20 different producers' creations covering a diverse range of genres, including artists such as Wu Wei, The Digital Connection, Spoken Bird, Secret Recipe and more. 

"Misty Peaks" is reminiscent of an early Emancipator production, but with a full dose of trip-and-drip-hop. Devin Kroes' reverberating acoustic guitar swirls in and around psy-breaks built by Colorado's Resonant Language.  The result is something beautifully cinematic and gripping that pours out slowly from the speaker. 

Chillage has been supporting the releases of west coast bass musicians for a number of years, and this fifth installment of their Crunksauce series was the first time they opened submissions to the public. Tunes from established producers and a handful of fresh faces fill the 19 track release. Chillage is releasing three tracks each week in various outlets before the March 29 official release date.

Neshima's flow is like an energetic river, carrying you from the city streets up into the clouds, down into the jungles of South America, and out to the deserts of the Middle East. Sound can become a teleportation device, if you breathe it in deep enough.

While this set is genre bending and resists being defined, within you will find elements of organic slow house, andes step, deep house, trip-hop, jungle-glitch, and psychedelic bass.

DJ’ing to me is sonic photosynthesis. The space and crowd put out a vibe, which I inhale that and try my best to breathe back out in sonic form.

Music has always been a life long obsession. Having been involved in the music industry for years, persistently scouring the earth for fresh and inspiring music, I feel I’ve become a bit of a librarian of sorts. With DJ’ing I have found a way to channel my knowledge and passion for our ever evolving music scene. It is with the greatest pleasure that I present to you my findings.
