Drew Id is a producer with a passion for heavy bass, sound design, and sound system culture, firmly establishing himself at the forefront of the Australian dub and bass music community.

Leaning heavily on live dub mixing in the studio to embellish heavyweight rhythms and bass production, Drew Id also employs a collection of analog synths to add melody and texture, all adding to the sonic storytelling that takes psychedelic dub to a new realm.

With a firm following built over 20 years of releases on labels including High Vibration Audio (US), Dubmission Records (UK), Culture Dub (FR), Rudekat Records and Dub Rascals (AUS), Drew Id receives regular streams from across the globe and is in demand for DJ sets at festivals around Australia, highlights being Earth Frequency Festival, Island Vibe Festival, Kuranda Roots, Rainbow Serpent, Meanjin Reggae Festival and many underground Bass music parties.

Drew ID - Labyrinthian Dub

Weighing in heavy with murderous intent across three guaranteed dance levellers, Trends & Boylan land on Sneaker Social Club with a bang. The pair have been slugging out grime-leaning gear for the past five years, causing a ruckus with their truly evil ‘Norman Bates’ beat, releasing also on Trends own Mean Streets label and linking up with Slimzee’s foundational stable Slimzos for some dubplate action.

They bring that street-level swagger to the tracks on the Ninety Nine EP, but here their punchy 8-bar flex is embellished to blend in with the Sneaker surroundings a treat. ‘Carnage’ tips towards chopped up Think Breaks while ‘Nocturnal’ doubles down on the dirtiest of b-lines. Confirming their allyship from dubplates gone by, Slimzee links up with Trends & Boylan for the double A side slammer, ‘Ninety Nine’, weaving dread-side D&B stabs around a tightly-wound beat with devastating results. There’s not an ounce of excess on these cuts precision tooled to smashup the dance good and proper. Need we say more?

JUDDER launches its own label with the first release being a VA "Judder Compilation #1". Expect nine tracks, exploring bass-oriented sonics around the 130–160 bpm range, from the likes of both worldwide acknowledged and up-and-coming artists. A huge palette of sounds and different moods meticulously flows through each track from the very beginning to an end.

The duo Poima opens the release with hypnotic and viscous swampy vibes, at the same time An Avrin brings groovy dancefloor-ish breakbeat settings. JUDDER resident Oddkut comes in with a percussive-driven heavy-hitter, while Nattah showcases her skills with unpretentious yet deeply pervasive stepper "False Trail". DUBRAW's very own Skotcha delivers pure shellings with a skippy grime-influenced "Shells" and, as usual, Champion Sound are ready to bury the soundboy with nothing but a straight belter. Flint's minimalistic approach to production continues to unfold through an ever-swirling and ever-twisting "Amok" and so does Dawn Razor's with a very funky and dubby dancefloor tool. The one to complete the compilation is Kapha, sharing an enigmatic clicky juke-track "Act & Pause"

Pushing Fire starts us off with uplifting energy as Powers of a God leads into heavy dark sublines. Skylane transports the listener into an alternate dimension full of vibrant color and harmonic melody. Never Tell wraps up the EP with slow moody grooves and cyberpunk atmos.
